Default sensational top notes that do not stick around long

hello I have a question for male and female perfume lovers: can you name any fragrances that have fantastic top notes that have little to do with what comes later?

    thank you

How strange that you started this thread on the very day this happened to me for the first time that l can remember! l tested Hermessence Ambre Narguile today; the top notes of tobacco, smokey spices, wood & incense with sweet tonka & amber were sensational on me, but after 20 minutes it all receded into dry woods & then a very soft benzoin. This was all about the opening for me, but it kind of fizzled out. Not in an altogether unpleasant way, but l was left feeling rather unsatisfied... Has this happened to you, then? Welcome to basenotes by the way!

Dolce Vita, is gorgeous in the begining with all it's spices then disapears soon afterwords to hardly anything. I was so excited in the begining thinking, wow this is more like it, but soon it was gone.

    Welcome fumes4ever !
For me -it's Gucci by Gucci - the brown bottle. I love the pear top note but it zips past.
Honeysuckle and Jasmine by Jo Malone- love the very fleeting top notes .
Oh yes, I forgot- Bluebell by Penhaligon- I adore the 'almost gourmand' top notes but it doesn't last .

My oh my, those first couple seconds with Diptyque's L'eau de Tarocco -- fulfilling, sweet-tart citrus rind opening like no other, it then just turns muted and muddy as soon as it's dry to the touch. Most disappointing transition of any fragrance I've sampled.

Piguet Baghari - the most gorgeous top notes that always take me by surprise, after an hour I've forgotten that I'm even wearing it every single time I've tried it. Must try it again and focus.
