Default Buttery note in Original Vetiver

I detect a buttery note in Original Vetiver along with something smokey. Can someone tell me what it is?

Vetiver itself has a buttery component as well as the smokier nuttier notes, I assume you are smelling this along with perhaps sandalwood which enhances the buttery effect. Original Vetiver is a nice vetiver scent.

It's this "dark" note in the base and drydown that turns me off of Original Vetiver. That's why I prefer the often compared Mugler Cologne. The tops are similar to me, but the base of the Mugler is so much nicer, fresher and cleaner.

I don't sense that buttery note, but I like it a lot.

I like and wear OV often. No smoke or buttery notes that I detect.

I may be mistaken, but I think that its the "Creed ambergris" in the drydown that's real buttery or "heavy". It's the same thing in GIT ,only much more prominent to me (and unappealing).

Strangely, I do detect sulphur the day after I wear this one.

My thoughts exactly. It is actually a sweet note (if I am detecting it correctly) and it's good but only in small quantities. Apply too much and it could well be nauseating!

Newbie here! Didn't see this post. You're probably right on this.

Smells like buttered popcorn really. I dislike OV until it dries down, but then once it dries down, it's your pretty standard lemony-vetiver.. I can find much better for the price.

The buttery note present in both Original Santal and Vetiver. Some basenoters call this the 'corn chip' note. it smells more popcorn to me.
