Default Les Parisiennes receive Nuit d'Amour

Guerlain's exclusive line called Les Parisiennes is dedicated to revivals of earlier one-off Jean-Paul Guerlain creations, but it had to wait four years to receive Nuit d'Amour, a 2006 limited Parfum, back then presented in a quadrilobe bottle that featured a Belle Époque collar of jet glass beads with a cameo medallion. It was also distributed as a less costly Eau de Parfum, and it is this version that is now available again, this time in the small bee bottle. Nuit d'Amour never obtained wide acclaim, but Les Parisiennes have recently lost Attrape Cœur and Philtre d'Amour due do IFRA restrictions, and Nuit d'Amour enters by way of consolation. The fragrance, a rosy plush oriental with fruity overtones, was inspired by the Gustav Klimt portrait Lady with Hat and Feather Boa of a 1909 society redhead wrapped in fur costume and eroticism, and the notes include lichee, pink peppercorn, may rose, violet, iris, sandalwood, and musk. 125 ml including bulb atomizer 180 €. Haven't tried it yet, but have a bottle on its way to me. Most reviews were bad, but I just *had* to collect this. Well, rose and sandalwood should be something like Nahéma, but this one is described as more fruity due to the lychee. Also quite powdery and honeyed. I'm sure I'll get to love it anyhow. It's a Jean-Paul Guerlain, you see

The lichee and violets were what worried about this one for me. But i do want to try it anyway.
Philtre d`Amour is a bigger loss to me than attrape coeur. I can see the beauty in attrape coeur, but i dislike it. It somehow linked with the guerlain that leaves me cold, samsara

Yes, each Parisienne has (or had) its devotees. Attrape Cœur was one of the real beauties for me...

They are both huge losses. Now I`m curious, will we have to wait this amount of years to see L'Abeille in the parisienne collection?

What's even left in the Parisiennes? Vetiver pour elle, I'm told, has been offed as well.

Even the SAs find the Parisiennes line to be a bit thin nowadays, but currently it has Philtre d'Amour, Nuit d'Amour, Mayotte (formerly Mahora), Liu, and Vetiver pour Elle - Philtre d'Amour is sold until stock ends. I've heard no rumours that Vetiver pour Elle is to be taken out. Often, department store SAs outside of France will tell that a certain fragrance is being discontinued while it's only taken out of that particular store's stock.

Last week at the Guerlain counter, when I asked about Ode a la Vanille, I was told it was an old limited edition which has been discontinued...

Tried it yesterday, nothing earth shattering. Let us not forget the loss of the spectacular Plus Que Jamais from Les Parisiennes.

Haha - oh well. Yeah, the younger Guerlain SAs are not too knowledgeable either, really. I stick to the same been-there-twenty-years lady.

PS: What irritates me is that Guerlain with Nuit d'Amour has stopped offering the Parisiennes without that terribly inferior bulb atomizer. That means that you are forced to pay 20 € extra, very unsuitable for a luxury house. For the first time, I sent a complaint to their PR manager, and she responded VERY quickly and "promised that my email would be sent further up the system" - oh well who knows... I guess it got too little cost-effective to produce boxes both with and without the hole for the atomizer...

Received it. The ribbon on the bottle is pink, not white as usual, so I wonder if each Parisienne has now got its own ribbon colour?

The fragrance? Also very pink. VERY lichee-dominated, and pink roses. But I'm sure I'll end up be passionate about it, just like all the other J-P's that I didn't like at the beginning. Consider this: I didn't like Guet-Apens from start. I really shouldn't talk or write about any fragrance until at least one month later.

Sounds like a new take on "La petite robe noire" ... pink - makes me think of a girlish scent. Maybe Guerlain want to attract a younger audience...???
Do you think it is available in the Boutique Guerlain in Düsseldorf/Germany?
Anyway, hope the scent will grow on you and you'll report back in a few weeks...

I don`t like the exclusifs presentation. They take a big space at the wardrobe and you always have to put the spray on it when you have to wear it, and in this process there`s always chance to loose juice. Not practical at all

No, it's not at all gourmand like LPRN. Think of some cross between Nahema and Idylle - very rosy but immensely more bright than Nahema (the latter was a masterpiece, Nuit d'Amour isn't quite one) and less romantic than Idylle, and then with this almost white fruity note (not berry) of lichee... I will post a pic of the bottle later...

Here's a pic of Nuit d'Amour with the new coloured Parisiennes collar. After reading Jean-Paul Guerlain's new book about the love affairs and romances behind some of his scents, I may get it better: It was inspired by a trip to Buenos Aires where he became fascinated by the steaming hot tango clubs. He wanted something very rosy and powdery. This rose has some resemblance to Jardins de Bagatelle, but less hard, more heady and fruity and with a warmer sandalwood base. Not bad really, although for me it's mainly a curiosity to own the Buenos Aires fragrance...

Is the juice clear Ulrik, or is that just the mirrored effect in the picture?

If it looks unclear, it's just the Lupin bottle behind covering the light yeah...

I've become quite passionate about Guerlain since I resumed buying fragrances 2 months ago, but somehow the newer bottles don't impress as much as the older ones do.

For eg, I find the La Petit Robe Noire take on the bouchon cœur bottle to be very tacky - black T-shirt is more like it...and the 'beard' on the 50.7 oz bottle is so awful-looking(I wonder if the original dames de table are still around?)

Well, I guess I'll stick to seeking the vintages for now.

The juice and the pink bow are very flattering. Anyone else smell this & wish to comment on it?

I have a small decant, actually I am on my second decant. I like it, but it is very soft, nothing loud like LPRN. The fruit is very non-descript, I was not able to make out what it was. To me it smells more of rose and neroli (?). I don't even think neroli or orange blossom is part of the notes, but that is what my nose is telling me. It is not as loud as Idylle either. I found it in the same style as Plus Que Jamais, but not as beautiful as PQJ. It is nice, wearable, but not extraordinary. It is not even long lasting. I would say it is a great perfume for the office, pretty, but non-offensive, a little blah

The pink ribbon was added to support breast cancer awareness - so says Guerlain in any case. They didn't say if profits are given to that aim though

The fruit is lychee, you know that very mild, transparent fruit flavour it has. Orange blossom is not listed, but who knows if it's there? The prickling quality can also stem from the pink peppercorn...

I just received my bottle today. I love it! I don't understand why everyone is so harsh in judgment against this scent. I made an appointment with one of Guerlain's scent development specialist that Neiman's brought in from France for their Guerlain event last weekend. I know that usually these events are just a tactic for inducing you to buy things, however, she spent about 15-20 minutes with me. I was pleasantly suprised that I actually chose this frangrance. I typically like sweeter notes but had passed by this one in the past after cursory inspection. My current favorites are Cartier Delicies and Guerlain Moscou. I also like Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Tiot, although I am a little let down on the base notes. That being said, I am NOT a dark, sensual, musky kind of person. For example, I absolutely DESPISE Shalimar and it would be hard to get worse then Thierry Mugler Angel (YUCK!!!). I actually hate about 95% of most scents in today's market. They strike me as sharp, obtuse, and faintly akind to sweatly gym shoe. However, I am standing by Nuit D'Amour. I very much enjoy it and I do not believe that Guerlain is selling out to attract a younger crowd base as some have suggested. Has anyone considered that some of people are just jaundiced/jaded in their obviously advanced years.
