I live in a 365/24-7 tropical climate and wear heavy hitters. I must smell like a a brothel at times!

Well, Shanghai summer is really bad! Tried Pure Malt and Body Kouros, it doesn't mix well with my sweat! hahaha....need something fresh for going to bars! I'll try Havana.

I don't like "heavy hitters" at the club. If you're going to be getting close to people you don't want to be choking them to death with something like Kouros or A men. I prefer "sexy scents" like...

    1. Noir de noir
    2. Tuscan Leather
    3. Pomegranate Noir
    4. John Varvatos
    5. La Nuit de L'homme

No top five and hard to come up with as many as 5 scents for clubbing, but probably Le Male Terrible, YSL L'Homme and Solo Loewe Intense would be among the finalists

I don't immerse myself in that type of social settings.....when I do, most would have some kind of dress code.....so for that purpose, Tobacco Vanille works like a charm for me.

Hehe... I just smelled Le Male on a young dude (17-18 years I guess) on the supermarket last night. Funny thing about the story is that it was 25ºC (77ºF) and pretty humid. The dude and his friend was both in shorts and shirts wearing sunglasses. IF YOU PUT ON LE MALE UNDER THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES YOURE INSANE!!! I felt like sitting the guy down on a chair and tell him a thing or two about frags...

Not that I go clubbing much anymore, but...

can someone please explain the attraction to heavy, sweet scents for the club? I mean, I understand the need for a scent to project well in that environment, I guess, but why not just apply more of whatever you like anyway, if you want more projection? Or is it something about sweet, gourmand notes, specifically?

Personally, I would much rather wear something like Terre d'Hermes, Live Jazz, Declaration, or something along those lines to a club, so as not to suffocate myself. If this has already been discussed, I'm sorry...I don't usually read clubbing threads.

    Before discovering Basenotes - L'Eau D'Issey

    Now........

    - Aventus (in warm weather)
    - Musc Ravageur or Tobacco Vanille (in cooler weather)

    A definite improvement I think.

L'Eau D'Issey is the greatest aquatic of all time in my opinion. I rank it as high as Aventus and MR, I think it's close to being a masterpiece.

Yes I agree it is a very nice scent, I didn't mean for it to come across like I was knocking it. The problem is that it is just far too popular in the UK these days, I hate it when every person in the bar knows what scent I'm wearing. Before joining BN it would've taken forever to find a suitable replacement, plus I was blindly purchasing whole bottles at a time.

    Good question.
For clubbing I have used everything you can see in my wardrobe.
    YSL's l'Homme, Terre d'Hermes, Rive Gauche, Solo Loewe, ....
My experience is that it doesn't matter how much you apply with these ones.
They will fade and you won't get noticed because of the smoke.

The only fragrance I use now for clubbing is Tauer's LdDM.
Dior Homme Intense, which I bought recently, will be my second choice.
All the rest in my wardrobe is absolutely not good for clubbing.

So the first reason is projection and the ability to cut through everything.
But there is a second reason, for me at least.

Girls love sweet desserts. Especially chocolat. In an edible form, that is.
So I guess it's a good reason to smell like that.
There is also something naughty about eating those ultra sweet sugary desserts, because they are fattening. If a girl connects that feeling of naughtiness to a certain guy...

In general, smelling sweet is something sensual and erotic, it's daring, it shows that you have confidence. Those are all the things you want when you go clubbing.

I humbly recommend you to at least try Horizon by Guy Laroche, this days is very VERY cheap online or at some discount stores.

    Seconding this!

What would you guys suggest for a night out club type atmosphere, indoor and outdoor ( rooptop) Weather is in the 80s humid ( Florida) Here are the choices i narrowed it down too:

    New Haarlem
    Aventus
    DHI
    Tauer LDDM
    MI
    Allure Homme Sport

Chanel Egoiste...isn't it too overpowering "pow" in your face cologne powerhouse? And Le Male...ugh...way too cloying and spicy! I bet Jil Sander Man Absolute destroys all of these, as many say it is the perfect vanilla and that is what you need when clubbing, so I bet it owns all

I wear Anteus when i head upscale, Aoud Forest for most nights (Aoud is quite different than most, but the aquatic notes keep it in line with the general vibe/trend), when i go grungy i am usually wearing MKK.

    -1 Million
    -Pure Malt
-Chergui (a little fancy for clubbing but I've actually had the most success with this one)
    -Rochas man
    -Lolita Lempicka

Surprised a lot of people are saying Rochas Man for a clubbing scent. It's quite close to the skin.

Went to a club a while ago wearing Sycomore. It made perfect sense.
However: Sycomore always makes sense. Day, night, indoors, outdoors, summer, winter.
But it certainly did in the club as well...

I find that NY Oud works very well. It has very strong projection, and best of all has a bit of a human/sweat smell (in a good way) that works perfectly when you start warming up on the dance floor.
