I was thinking of picking up Black Aoud for clubbing actually.

I'm not to familiar with the club scene other than the fact it smells like a storm of sweat and different fragrances mixed together, so would this be a good choice?

I'm not sure about Black Aoud for going to bars. It's too elegant for that. And the idea of a smell of a rose and the bar, the smoke, and alochol just doesn't go together. This is just my personal opinion.

I do the more alternative club scene and the three I wear most often are Montale Black Aoud (oud patchouli and rose), Etat Libre d'Orange Rien (seriously smoky incense leather), and CdG 2 MAN (incense, smoke and vetiver).

This is just based off fragrances I've personally worn a bunch of times.

When I want to be noticed a bit:
    Creed Original Santal
    Bond No. 9 New Haarlem
Carolina Herrera 212 for Men (cuz I want to win the battle of synthetics at the club)

When I'm just there and don't care otherwise:
    Tom Ford Grey Vetiver
    Creed Green Irish Tweed
    Chanel Platinum Egoiste
    Chanel Allure Edition Blanche

I don't go clubbing anymore, but if I did, I would choose something that's loud, aggressive and stands out. Something tart and fruity like Aventus or something with spice/tobacco like Pure Havane or Chergui. I also like Armani Code but I think I'd be one of 50 people wearing it to the same club.

I love Dior Homme, but I consider it to be too reserved and quiet for something like a club.

My favourite one at the moment for clubbing is Chanel Egoiste. Being a Chanel it can be dressed up or down and it has powerful projection and longevity. It's not your cookie cutter Le Male or Aqua di Gio club boy scent either, so in that respect it's quite rare and it smells elegant in a sexy way.

Black Aoud has power, that's for sure.
I smoke cigarettes in my car for example, I spray some black aoud in it, and I can tell you the smell can stay for days. My car scent now ahah but don't worry I also like to spray it on me.

I remember I was removing my jacket to try some scent on my arms, and that serge lutens SA asked me right away what I was wearing, BA lol
As for clubbing/bars I think it should be good too, also spray a little on clothes and it will stay all night even in smoky situations,
I might give it a try on friday night , it's been a while last time I went clubbing lol

Red Aoud can be a good one too, also tuscan leather maybe.
Anyone uses red aoud ?? Feedbacks?

It depends. If its a private club, little smoke, and fewer people and you are out with a particular lady... La Nuit + Rochas Man layered hands down (because you'll be close with this particular scent and they will enjoy it more than those around you. It projects well, but its not a beast like 1 Million, which is what I would recommend for a night with the guys where you want to project and have people wondering what smells so great.)

Where I am front, One Million is rare so it works well... But I rotate between those two for clubs. Le Male is overused where I am at, so I avoid that too... but it would be my 3rd option. Pure Malt gives me mixed reviews at the clubs.
    Top 5:
    1) La Nuit De L'Homme by Yves Saint Laurent
    2) Lumière Noire pour Homme by Maison Francis Kurkdjian
    3) Royal Oud by Creed
    4) One Million by Paco Rabanne
    5) Allure Homme Sport by Chanel

    +1 Black aoud.

Le male won't get you passed the bouncer if the club has any kind of taste.

Maybe Im to late, but anyway..

Well, Im not 17 anymore, so Le Male, 1 Million and Joop is not options for me. For going out purposes (bars, clubs, big parties etc.) my go to scents atm. is:

    Dior - Homme Intense
    YSL - La Nuit
    Thierry Mugler - Pure Malt
    Armani - Code
    JPG - Gaultier2

Stuff I dont own but tried and easily could see myself wear in clubs, bars etc.

Chanel - Allure (funny no one mentions this. It really does clubbing very well)
    YSL - Body Kouros
    Givenchy - Pi
    D&G - Pour Homme

It depends a lot on my mood/outfit/club environment/smoke or smoke free. If it's a smoke free environment Dior Homme or Green Irish Tweed are both near universally liked winners. If it's a smoke filled club/lounge/bar I'll opt for something stronger which makes a statement like MFK Absolue pour le soir, Chanel Egoiste, Rose 31 or L'air du desert du Morocain. I haven't sampled Tobacco Vanille yet, but if it's anything like Tuscan Leather, it should be a winner!

I don't like "heavy hitters" at the club. If you're going to be getting close to people you don't want to be choking them to death with something like Kouros or A men. I prefer "sexy scents" like...

    1. Noir de noir
    2. Tuscan Leather
    3. Pomegranate Noir
    4. John Varvatos
    5. La Nuit de L'homme

Hehe... I just smelled Le Male on a young dude (17-18 years I guess) on the supermarket last night. Funny thing about the story is that it was 25ºC (77ºF) and pretty humid. The dude and his friend was both in shorts and shirts wearing sunglasses. IF YOU PUT ON LE MALE UNDER THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES YOURE INSANE!!! I felt like sitting the guy down on a chair and tell him a thing or two about frags...

Not that I go clubbing much anymore, but...

can someone please explain the attraction to heavy, sweet scents for the club? I mean, I understand the need for a scent to project well in that environment, I guess, but why not just apply more of whatever you like anyway, if you want more projection? Or is it something about sweet, gourmand notes, specifically?

Personally, I would much rather wear something like Terre d'Hermes, Live Jazz, Declaration, or something along those lines to a club, so as not to suffocate myself. If this has already been discussed, I'm sorry...I don't usually read clubbing threads.

L'Eau D'Issey is the greatest aquatic of all time in my opinion. I rank it as high as Aventus and MR, I think it's close to being a masterpiece.

Yes I agree it is a very nice scent, I didn't mean for it to come across like I was knocking it. The problem is that it is just far too popular in the UK these days, I hate it when every person in the bar knows what scent I'm wearing. Before joining BN it would've taken forever to find a suitable replacement, plus I was blindly purchasing whole bottles at a time.

    Good question.
For clubbing I have used everything you can see in my wardrobe.
    YSL's l'Homme, Terre d'Hermes, Rive Gauche, Solo Loewe, ....
My experience is that it doesn't matter how much you apply with these ones.
They will fade and you won't get noticed because of the smoke.

The only fragrance I use now for clubbing is Tauer's LdDM.
Dior Homme Intense, which I bought recently, will be my second choice.
All the rest in my wardrobe is absolutely not good for clubbing.

So the first reason is projection and the ability to cut through everything.
But there is a second reason, for me at least.

Girls love sweet desserts. Especially chocolat. In an edible form, that is.
So I guess it's a good reason to smell like that.
There is also something naughty about eating those ultra sweet sugary desserts, because they are fattening. If a girl connects that feeling of naughtiness to a certain guy...

In general, smelling sweet is something sensual and erotic, it's daring, it shows that you have confidence. Those are all the things you want when you go clubbing.

Chanel Egoiste...isn't it too overpowering "pow" in your face cologne powerhouse? And Le Male...ugh...way too cloying and spicy! I bet Jil Sander Man Absolute destroys all of these, as many say it is the perfect vanilla and that is what you need when clubbing, so I bet it owns all

Surprised a lot of people are saying Rochas Man for a clubbing scent. It's quite close to the skin.

Went to a club a while ago wearing Sycomore. It made perfect sense.
However: Sycomore always makes sense. Day, night, indoors, outdoors, summer, winter.
But it certainly did in the club as well...

I find that NY Oud works very well. It has very strong projection, and best of all has a bit of a human/sweat smell (in a good way) that works perfectly when you start warming up on the dance floor.
