Versace Man is an elegant fragrance, created for the charismatic and temperamental man. It has a certain "Latino vibe" due to the tobacco note in oriental surroundings. Top notes include neroli, bergamot and angelica. Heart note is composed of saffron and cardamom. The base is ambery with labdanum, Casmir and tobacco. It was created in 2003. The nose behind this fragrance is Domitille Michalon.

Ambr'erò by Cerchi nell' Acqua.
Notes (from the writeup): amber, citrus, animalic, floral, oriental.
At the opening, I get a spicy citrus note, followed shortly thereafter by florals. Then it settles into a sort of floriental, with florals and spices alternating, backed by amber and a bit of vanilla, but without becoming overly sweet (at least to my nose).

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

Tabac Original EdC. Where have you been all my life? I bought a 10 oz bottle for around $20 online. The bottle looks a lot like a bowling pin. Nice. It's such a fine and classic scent. A very successful blind buy, which I purchased after reading about it on basenotes. Thank you, Basenoters!

Cartier Déclaration Eau Généreuse (2003) Jean-Claude Ellena Fresh Chypre
•Top Notes: Mandarin, Neroli, Coriander, Bergamot, Artemisia, Caraway, Russian Birch •Middle Notes: Cardamom, Black Pepper, Jasmine, Juniper, Orris Root, Iris, Cinnamon, Ginger •Base Notes: Cedar, Vetiver, Leather, Amber, Oakmoss, Tea Notes
This is my favorite version of Déclaration. I think the appeal is that the basic Déclaration idea is translated into an Eau-de-cologne style. The re-balanced citrus and green notes in the top take some of the bitter birch tar edge off the basic fragrance and enliven it just enough to make it a good warn-weather wear. The trouble is that it's nearly impossible to find; but the trade-off is that the bottle I have is huge! Jean-Claude Ellena has done a great job on this one! I find this version of Déclaration very energizing and invigorating. It hangs around just enough, with good sillage, but it's not a one-two punch. With warm weather approaching, I find myself looking forward to the treat of wearing this again.
