Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. What with BN being offline since yesters, I didn't get to tell Pomander that I would have loved to have spent a quiet Sunday morning sniffing little vials with her. I couldn't imagine anything more preciously engaging. Evangeline seeing David Sedaris was exciting news. Being from the South, you probably derive even more from his humor.

Yesterday's scents followed the recent trend involving 24F, Thé Blanc, Dark Amber &GL. To push myself out of that routine, I'm having a Mitsouko morning.

Belated birthdays to SMM and anyone else I missed over the last few days.

Starting the week in Lyric Woman.

Took decants of Bois de Violette, Attrape-Couers, Caldey Island Lavender, and Azzaro Couture for the weekend get-away.

Hard to get back into routine today!

    Hello everyone!

I'm in K de Krizia this morning. I usually think of this as my B-52s fragrance, but I heard "Voices Carry" yesterday and I could practically smell the K de Krizia that I wore to a 'til Tuesday concert, too. (I also saw Tears for Fears in K de Krizia...I wore this a lot in the 80s.)

Quarry - the tickets were a surprise from Tony Fiancé, so that made it extra-exciting! I suppose I'll think of Coromandel as my David Sedaris fragrance from now on, lol!

My sister & I had a wonderful weekend at the Fall Ball in NY. I finally got to meet SMM & wished him a Happy birthday in person! SOTD is the discontinued Caron Alpona urn fragrance. We went to the Caron boutique in the Phyto Universe building. Diane brought out the last aluminum canister of Alpona (the urn is gone) and we had a grand time.

Alpona was first launched in 1939 & was Ernest Daltroff's ode to the French Alps. It's considered a "fresh citrus" & was the very first fragrance to combine flowers with grapefruit.

This complex scent is rich and lovely on the skin.

cello - you're right, they still sound awesome! Relevant, too (I still have them on vinyl!) And fwiw, I say keep everything. In my experience, I always manage to find a reason to regret getting rid of anything I once loved but no longer have.

    Also, you smell wonderful!

Wow, we were offline a loooong time that time. Good to be back. In the interim I wore Diorissimo (thanks, Lilybelle!) layered with Demeter Lily of the Valley; the combination smells better to me than either alone. Today, nothing yet.

Hi All - * Thank goodness Basenotes is running again !!!*

Dearest Quarry - I would have loved to have had your company yesterday to test forgotten scents. Basically, the idea behind my morning sniffing plan, was to get together a collection of fragrances to wear in the autumn/winter months, and situate them in the front of their respective categories (floral, leather, chypre, oriental, citrus) on my fragrance shelves. Now dear Quarry, I KNOW you are a fan or organizing things, so I'm betting you'll understand my little indulgence.

Well, I started out with Kelly Caleche as I haven't worn this floral-leather in a long time. Still mad for it. Caleche Fleurs de Mediterranee (decant) was next. In the end, I just couldn't warm up to this fragrance so I guess it makes sense that it resides in the "forgotten" area of the shelves. From there I went to a fall favorite of last year, Bulgari Omnia, but sadly was not too impressed with it yesterday (the circular bottle skulked and rolled to the back of the shelf in shame). Next forgotten scent was Eau Premiere, which was as lovely as ever, so front and center was where that went. Timbuktu came after that, and regained it's status with the front-of-the-shelf oriental/incense scents. Then, I looked over at 31, rue Cambon who lifted her perfectly formed brow, and inquired, "You don't actually think I'm moving from my Chypres front-of-the-shelf seat do you?" "Of course not" I assured her. "You are my shining star of all seasons!". Such a diva!

By the end of the morning, Chanel Cuir de Russie had moved to the front line (from just behind Dzing!), and No. 19 came up from the mid section. I never made it to the citrus section...so Citron de Vigne will remain my first reached for choice for now.

    Today, I wore Beige.

    Wordbird, LOL @ ''marinated myself''

If I have a cold I take 1 gram vitamin C every hour or every two hours, depends on the severity of the virus, my nose clears immediately, so does my throat ache (always very bad when I have a cold).
Give it a try! Just get the plainest cheapest vitamin C, no extra's, riboflavins, or ''time release''. I am never worried anymore if I feel I am getting sick, because I get rid of it immediately!

This morning I was in Chergui (and fragrant...yum) and this evening I'm in Idole de Lubin as my FB just arrived and I can NEVER resist ripping it open (gently) and applying as soon as a new FB arrives. I'm pleased with the dark bitter orangey rummy woody leathery sandalwoodiness of it. Nice for a fall evening.

Haunani - It was indeed great fun! If you're interested in seeing him, it looks like he's going to be in your part of the country this very weekend and then again at the end of April, so that might be worth looking into. Now I know he likes Coromandel, but I bet he'd respond quite positively to any one of your beauties!

I'm in EL's Sensuous Noir for the evening. Y'all have a good night!

Science is not only compatible with spirituality, it is a profound source of spirituality. When we recognize our place in an immensity of light-years and in the passage of ages, when we grasp the intricacy, beauty, and subtlety of life, then that soaring feeling, that sense of elation and humility combined, is surely spiritual. ..Carl Sagan

Wordbird and Warum, hope you feel better soon!

I missed you all yesterday -- but, I got to meet a local basenoter in person: I was buying a bottle that he was offering on the sale forum, so we met at a Starbucks. Of course he is a lovely gentleman, (he’s a BASENOTER, after all...) and we had a nice chat. I wore my new (original formulation) Iris Bleu Gris the rest of the day -- it's clearly rootier and earthier than the current version.

It’s still summer here! (Today was 90 degrees, one short of our record high for this day!) so I wore light scents today -- Dzongha was my SOTD, and tonight I’m wearing The Unicorn Spell.

Temperature should drop a bit later in the week -- can't wait to wear a scarf and an oud!

I don't know what's up having finally gotten over the stomach flu and a cough/ sinus condition- today I have a mad case of conjunctivitis & my right eye is a scary scarlet red, even though it doesn't hurt or itch. Serendipity that I have an appt coming up with the opthamologist on Friday.
