Default Patchouli Noir by Il Profumo

I received a sample of this and spritzed once just to smell it. Due to work, I haven't had time to give it a sample wearing YET.....but.......I am looking forward to reviewing it in more depth.

The first 10 minutes or so, I thought I was hurled back into the 70's......and I'm not trying to go back in time. This is big, badass earthy patch that gave me flashbacks of tie-dyed shirts and elephant bell bottoms. Others may not agree, but this is what the opening did to me.

20 minutes later and occupied with another matter, I'm wondering what that great smell is. Yes indeed.......the Grateful Dead is gone....and what replaces it is pretty good indeed. I have other excellent patch renditions that evolve, but Patchouli Noir is drastic in evolution.

I found the opening to be gothic hippie, but the drydown really is worth the wait. If I ever buy this, I'll have to stay inside alone for half hour before interacting with anyone.

I love it the whole dry down...and i'm no patchouli lover. Great perfum, still thinking about a full bottle purchase... problem is that it's too expensive and hard to find in Spain, and i have plenty of frags that i'd love to get before.

In my view, this knocks spots of most of the patchouli frags out there. It's drydown is sublime. I bought a bottle of this 2 years ago and I still have about 80% remaining - a little goes a long way!

So if the dry down doesn't smell like hippie patchouli, what exactly does it smell like?

It maintains a patchouli earthiness but this mingles with a softer vanilla/ floral note (unlike the sweet chocolate of other patchoulis) which seems to both temper and complement the original earthiness.

Got it for my gf days ago. Love it on her. Will review once I get to know it better.

The start is hard, kinda off-putting.... but let it relax for 20 or so minutes and you'll find a great dry down with a vanillic and floral patchouli that gives a comfortable aura and leave a beautiful sillage. Longevity is fantastic.

How does this one compare to Patchouli Nobile by Nobile 1942?
They are both on my radar!

I love this fragrance. I get the chocolate/vanilla in the drydown but the most interesting thing I get from it is some light pipe tobacco. Not overwhelming nor as strong as Tobacco Vanille but reminiscent.

I would love to know this as well. I have/ love Patchouli Nobile, but am very interested in Patchouli Noir.

    Anyone?

    Thanks!

Also does this lean toward masculine / feminine?

    Thanks!
