Great frag for a today's rainy Manila weather - with substance, but not too heavy, warm yet not sickly so. Classic!

Fresh, spicy, resinous, with a good drydown of musk and resins. Good for fair cool to warm weather and an upbeat mood. This has a pretty good longevity on my skin, as well as a moderate sillage. For me, this is not the best of the Frédéric Malle line, but that's because my taste runs to heavier, more complex scents. For what it is, this is very well-balanced and well-constructed fragrance.

I wore this to work today-- it was heavenly. I find that this scent is often relegated to second-class status behind Bois du Portugal and Vintage Tabarome-- and it reminds me of pieces of both. I really have a hard time picking up the vetiver in this for some reason--maybe it's so well integrated into the spice accords. I don't find the juniper berries to be reminiscent of a gin martini either-- instead, I get the buttery effect that juniper berries sometimes have and it combines with the cinnamon to give it a hot buttery coffee cake vibe like I get from Aramis Havana.
I imagine this scent as having a very simple, relatively short formula of very fine, complex natural materials. Well tailored and minimal, yet rich and toothsome.

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."
