Default Recommend Me a Good Unisex Rose

Please recommend me a good, light, unisex rose scent. Something nice in the vein of rosewater. Contenders like Acqua di Parma Colonia , Floris no 89, and Hammam Bouquet come to mind. Are there others?

Have you tried Le Lebo Rose 31? Admittedly, this is not a note I have much experience with, but I thought it was really nice. A lot of people say rose is more of a feminine note, and this is considered a "masculine" version - so by that logic, might it work? I don't know, my head hurts.....but, it still may be worth a test :P

I am looking for something akin to a natural rosewater type scent.

Have you tried Rose Poivree, from the Different Company, specifically the vintage?

Hmm, when you say "light" and unisex but similar to rosewater, I assume you just mean something unadorned, but not overly cloying or sweet.

The scent I'm most familiar with that might best fit what you're looking for is Creed Fleur de Thé Rose Bulgare.

You should check the line of Les Parfums de Rosine which does only rose scents; I've only tried a couple of them, but I'm sure they've got one that fits what you're looking for. I personally like Un Zest de Rose, which to me is a light unisex rose with citrus.

Roger & Gallet Jean Marie Farina Extra Vielle. Similar to AdP Colonia.

Noir de Noir by Tom ford is amazing, but it may not be "light".

Maybe it's me who doesn't really know what rosewater is, but Rose Poivree in my books is very far away from any kind of rosewater

A light spritzing of Serge Lutens' Sa Majesté La Rose?
Its not in any way powdery or too 'feminine' if that is a concern. Just a beautiful, dewy, rose.

Not sure if its too feminine but Une Rose from Frederic Malle is the best Rose I ever smelt

I reckon CPLS is closer to "rose water type".

I'll third this suggestion, Cabaret has a lightness to it that keeps it fresh and easy to wear. Also, there must be a Jo Malone rose cologne. Red Roses, perhaps?

I'm going to second Creed Fleur de Thé Rose Bulgare for an uncomplicated rose. The current version is a bit lighter and less long lasting than the green bottle version that is no longer in the stores, but as "lighter" is what you say you want, this may be the one.

Malle Une Rose is excellent, but not light.

Guerlain Rose Barbare is a honeyed rose.

Jo Malone Red Roses was just mentioned. Personally I don't find that one so realistic...there is an odd plasticky note to my nose-- but you might like it.

    Midnight Poison for sure.
It's a dark rose, but still a rose,
    and quite male-friendly!

Just two reviews, more or less I'm on their side - peace with us.

"A skimpy, almost imperceptible layer of rose, sandwiched between heavy civet and heavier coriander. Absolutely unwearable on me."

"I get no rose at all. Second, the coriander seems to be aided, abetted and overwhelmed by a tangy-brown cumin note. Along with some sweaty civet, this produces an odd metallic note which I find quite unpleasant. Rotting celery leaves, old curry, and greasy salami come to mind."

One of them mentions a possible reformulation. I so then I tried abot 3-4 four years ago the original, say "not so pleasant" version.

Based on your desire for a unisex "rose water" type scent, I highly recommend Rose Pivoine from Parfums de Nicolai

    i love bothe versions.
in fact, the older version had more pepper in the opening then the current one.
the new one is rounder and and little sweeter in the opening but part from that... they are identical.

to me... it is true there is coriander, civet and pepper.
ut ther is allot of fresh rose ..rose water like rose notes.
it reminds me of rose water we used in kuwait to welcome the gussets .

I'm not really sure if there is a certain distinct scent to "rose water". I just understood it as something that would smell of natural fresh rose, and is light? RP does smell of salty-dirty rose, and is quite a light scent. I think you're right, we might have a different picture of "rose water".

Funny no one has mentioned Paestum Rose (Eau d'Italie), one of the best fragrances out there of any kind. Out of 22 Basenotes reviews, 21 are positive, 1 neutral.

The reformulated Rose Poivree that many mentioned smells akin to rose water. The vintage is peppery and dirty. Also, what about 4711 Echt Kölnisch Wasser? Unisex, inexpensive and very similar to rose water.
