Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

It's another Feminite Du Bois morning.
I have ordered a sample of the new Lutens version to compare,
but I am still peeved they had to mess with the original and make
it more expensive, of course. The bottle was so cool as well.

Good Morning! It's been unseasonably warm and muggy here. So last night I went to bed wearing the charming Strawberry Flowers (by Fresh), one of my "summer scents". After my shower, this will be my SotD.

    DAKS A/W 2010

Switching from Opoponax (Sweet Myrhh) to Myrhh, her bookish older sister with Keiko Mecheri Myrrh Et Merveilles. More serious and less fuzzy, but all the more appealing for it. This one has a little too much white musk in for me (I blame The Body Shop, I've never got over my White Musk loathing), but it's nice and biting.

    Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel

top notes: galbanum, petitgrain, neroli, bergamot, lemon
middle notes: violet, rose, narcissus, mimosa, iris, sage, geranium
base notes: cedarwood, vetiver, oakmoss, tonka bean, almond

A beautifully dry violet with a great warm drydown. One of my best buys - ten bucks at Marshalls! Smells a lot more spendy than that. One must keep its considerable potency in mind, but still, applied with restraint it's a wonderful fragrance, ahead of its time.

    Best to all!

Luscious Hypnotic Poison. I purchase the 1 oz squat red apple bottle from Sephora's and I must say I love the spray nozzle. It gives a very smooth and satisfying squirt. Some may think this sounds crazy but I know you folks will understand me completely. The simple pleasures in life. Have a fabulous day.
"Like a lobster with a pearl in its claw, the beet held the jasmine firmly without crushing or obscuring it. Beet lifted jasmine, the way a bullnecked partner lifts a ballerina, and the pair came on stage on citron's fluty cue. As if jasmine were a collection of beautiful paintings, beet hung it in the galleries of the nose, insured it against fire or theft, threw a party to celebrate it. Citron mailed the invitations." Guerlain's Arsène Lupin Voyou. "Voyou" is French for "a rascal", and typical of sweetly smiling Guerlain it's the most benign sense of the word that is presupposed: the brisk and spontaneous kind of guy, slightly simpleminded perhaps, but so handsome, genuine and affectionate that you can't help falling in love with him. The fragrance's head has the tonic ambrosial attraction found in all Jean-Paul Guerlain's great masculines, and feminines for that matter, a perfectly stimulating harmony of bitter orange, so immensely more charismatic and dry than its sweet counterpart, mugwort, coriander and pink pepper that immediately hints at the warm wood down below, all in all smelling like new-felled forest timber and bright autumn days. Then rose, so worshipped by Jean-Paul Guerlain, controlling the orange fruit with a mild and cool sweetness. The base is made up of luxurious sandalwood, benzoin and patchouli, aromatic and fine like incense smoke. Reprising the cold-warm contrasts of Coriolan and Bois d'Arménie, the drydown is engaging and badly addictive, with an effect between caramelized leather and mannish wood turpentine. So why those cotton-soft white musks? They work as fixative in nearly all newer Guerlains, and they do it well, but they also prevent the voice from becoming very deep and hoarse (remember Derby?), which is not quite what you would expect from a rascal. But, it's forgivable when the rascal is as charming as Arsène Lupin Voyou is: if Chamade pour Homme was meant to smell anything like Chamade for men, this could have been it.

Was working all day yesterday, without even a chance to check BN during my lunchbreak or at night.

As a result, slept in and woke up at 7 today.

Petra, I liked them Cat's Tongues.
Jacona, loved your SotD yesterday, from YR.
Knit_at_nite -- about your bags of M&M's -- my Mr.T usually reads the back of a 12 oz bag like this: "Calories per serving -- 160. Serving size -- 1 bag", and he giggles. Sometimes -- depending on the product -- he reads it as "Serving size -- 1 box".

Paprika Brazil from a nice Ms.C and Hermessense. We are windy here again, gusts up to 60 ml/hr. The whole house is dancing preparing for a few flurries. People in IN, are you safe after the tornado?

Ballet class means Chanel, so I'm in a few dabs of No.5 parfum this morning, with just a light spray of vintage edc to add some sparkle.
