Opium by Yves Saint Laurent
Thread: The essence of sex
Ok I have done this on the men's forum and thought I would do it here. What fragrances do you have or have smelled that you find to be incredibly sexy. In your quest for the sexiest fragrance what do you think is your #1?
Even though I would not wear it I find Carnal Flower to be an incredibly sexy scent for a woman to wear.
Marked as "feminine"?
Opium by Yves Saint Laurent
For me it is definitely original Marylin Miglin Pheromone. It was reorchestrated but the first edition was pure sex on me.
Narciso Rodriguez EDT smells wholesomely sexy to me -- skin and warm fur. Bal a Versailles smells like kinky sex. Perfumistas hate it, but I think YSL Elle is rather sexy, for some reason. Something about that sparkling patchouli ...
This scent is great, but ... MORE KITTENS!
Tabu gets my vote. I wore it a lot last year, really wanted to inhabit it and understand it, and I loved it. Even the newest version is borderline raunchy; and the more I wore it, the more apparent that became.

Obsession, Tabu, Bal a Versailles - all good calls!
Without a doubt for down right animal sweaty sex. Ambre Sultan.
Une Fleur de Cassie
Cristalle in the EdP
Montana Parfum de peau - smells like a naked hot body
Miss Dior - sexiest frag for hot weather
Trussardi - I get the "buttcrack" smell from top to basenotes
Rumba - like Montana, but sweeter, smoke, dark vanilla, my vamp scent
Paloma Picasso - vintage smelled of bitter leather
Gucci III - smells very sexy and that rose+leather+coriander combo is addictive
Rive Gauche - can be sexy or anti-sexy depending on mood and weather. On hot skin the powder comes like leathery
Farouche - really wild smell. I always thought of it as a chypre before reading it was an aldehide
Calandre - green aldehide that only comes alive on a hot, humid beach.
Poison - ultimate decadence
I find Obsession for women sexy. I find patchouli sexy on men.
Bal a Versailles
Le Parfum de Therese by FM.
Great ones already mentioned; I'll add Serge Lutens Muscs Koublai Khan.
"I felt something so intense, I could only express it in a perfume." - Jacques Guerlain
Habanita - Molinard
Rococo - Joop!
Oh, yes -- Habanita IS sexy.
This scent is great, but ... MORE KITTENS!
As I have said before in another thread, I find vintage Chantilly sexy in the evening.
After a shower I douse myself in Chantilly scented powder, dab some perfume on the right points, and it has an excellent effect on the bf, who always claims to detest fragrances....
And of course there is TABU....
I really think the sexiness of a perfume depends entirely on its wearer. It's all about style, context, and confidence. Those "office perfumes"? So damn sexy, if your carriage is right. A woman in a sharp tailored suit and heels totally rocks Y, for instance. That is sexy to me. It's about so much more than patchouli notes, or skank, or whatever. I could put on Agent Provocateur and it wouldn't be sexy because I'd be too busy walking around thinking, "Oh my GOD. I smell like VAGINA!" Nobody would be thinking, "Wow, that is one sexy perfume." They'd be thinking, "Wow, that is one self-conscious, stinky nerd woman." The whole perfume would be ruined.
So, yeah. Style, context, and confidence, in my opinion!

I had an interesting discussion recently involving a gentleman friend and a number of fragrance samples, which revealed that he found Chanel No 19 seriously sexy. This goes to show there is no accounting for taste and possibly reveals more about the kind of lady he finds attractive than he might like the world to know. (Just think about the description of 19 in Perfumes The Guide: it mentions power-dressing, stilettos, hard-heartedness, and being in the boardroom. Oh-kaaaaay. Not the kind of gal you'd expect a hardcore death metaller to go for, but...)
Personally, if I want to feel seductive I reach for Miller Harris L'Air de Rien, frankly it smells like getting out of your lover's bed. Glorious.
For sexy as opposed to having sex, I would choose a classic rich chypre like Lancome Sikkim or Tauer's Un Rose Chypree, though I used to wear Opium a lot and remember being complemented on it. I like Coco too.
But my dating years pre-date my reincarnation as a perfumista, so I've never tried wearing something like Fracas or Tabac Blonde, l'Heure Bleu, Habanita or Vol de Nuit in an attempt to seduce. Maybe now I'm going to be flying solo again I'll get chance to try them out. And Bulgari Black too! (I wonder what response rubber+leather+vanilla would get? Boy would THAT tell you a lot about a guy!)
On a gentleman, I would love to smell pretty much anything Roberto wears! Pour Un Homme de Caron is one I hope to get to smell on a man one day, as well as Bulgari Black, Eau d'Hermes, Yatagan and Parfums d'Empire's Fougere Bengal.
In the past I have loved Kouros and Eternity for men on chaps. Back in the day, it was a great treat to be lent a sweater by a boyfriend and be able to smell worn-in Kouros on it for days afterwards.
But I do also think there's a lot to be said for subtlety - I had a hug from a male friend a few weeks ago and walked away reeking of his aftershave. Not sexy. And I'll second the remark about it being in your head - I have had days when I've been wearing jeans and a jumper and felt utterly sexy.

What makes me purr -
Bal a Versaille
The Party in Manhattan
Hearts starve as well as bodies; give us bread, but give us roses.
My very quirky choice is Aziyade, an oriental with cumin, the ultimate touch of raunch.
I think my sexiest scent is Rumba as well. Next Fracas (used to wear), then Carnal Flower.
I really think it depends on who you are trying to attract....some men like Fracas...my husband thinks it smells like blue cheese. I recall being chased down by a very elegant older gentleman while wearing Ivoire. Young men seemed to love Kenzo Jungle when I wore it (which absolutely makes me ill now)
DH loves CH I Hate Perfume Russian Caravan Tea and Jicky on me.
The only scents that consistently get compliments from men of all ages on me are Balmain Vent Vert (yes, the current formulation...) and Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir.
L'Instant EDP is my favorite scent on a woman.
Iris Pallida 50ml
Ungaro I 75ml
and more! - http://www.basenotes.net/threads/301...n-Man-and-more
This is entirely subjective- I have received many compliments on Cacherel Gloria, Ozbek by Rifat Ozbek, Alien by Thierry Mugler and Bulgari Blue Notte. Not necessarily my favourites, but the ones men have liked the best!
On me, I like Theorema, Parfum Sacre and Obsession.
But I've always found Laura Biagotti Roma to smell like sex in a bottle, I don't think I could wear it in public without turning 10 shades of red. I once had the misfortune of testing both Kenzo Jungle l'elephant and Costume National Scent at the same time in Sin City and I think I smelled like a hooker and of course, those are the ones that will not scrub off. Luckily I had not decided to test Alexander McQueen on my skin as well.
