Default Just joined, wanted to say hello

Hello everyone, this is my first post on any forum and just wanted to say hello. I'm new to the world of fragrances and this site has been great. So far I only have been experimenting with designer scents but will eventually like to sample and purchase some niche. Placed my first order on decant shop this week for some DHI and GPH1. I seem to lean towards heavier scents and not really a fan of "green" or floral scents. Once again, thanks for posting some great stuff.
Forgot to add I'm a 34/m living on the east coast(Philadelphia) so far my favorite scent is a toss up between burberry London and DG the one. The closest thing to niche that I have is Jo Malone oud and bergemont

Hi Steve! Let me know how you like Dior Homme Intense. PM me, or I'll never see it.

    I like heavier stuff too.

    Hello and welcome aboard Steviereds!

If you like the heavier frags the tom ford private blends are right up your alley.. tobacco vanille, tuscan leather, plum japonais, noir de noir & italian cypress. If there's a neiman marcus or saks fifth avenue in your area you can sample them there.

Thank you everyone for the welcome, I appreciate it. Thanks for the suggestions and Chanel1 I certainly will. I'm reading all the posts on here and decided that the best way for me to smell what I think I would like is taking everyone's advice and purchasing decants and samples. So far I've looked at decant shop, lucky scent and surrendertochance. If anybody has any other suggestions for other sites to check, that would be awesome. Thanks again guys

I've used the Perfumed Court. It takes a little while, but what you get is great: a bunch of vials. 5 ml is actually quite a bit, usually 10+ wearings at least, so it adds up.

I like the Surrender to Chance website, so I'm planning to use it next.

Oud & Bergamot is a overlooked gem.

It's the pioneer (or second to pioneer) scent to encompass the smell of oud wood not oud oil.
    And excellent quality too.

Hedonist222, I'm a little embarrassed to say it, but I really know nothing about notes and compositions yet, but I'm slowly trying to read and learn. All I know is that my nose really likes the scent lol!! Thank you for telling me more about it,now I can try to see if there are other oud wood scents similar to this. It is my first experience with oud, and so far I read that it can smell medicinal in some fragrances but I don't catch that in this one. Thanks for the welcome and taking time to post everybody

    Exactly.
The smell of oud oil has several facets. Medicinal is one among others.

Oud wood smells woody, not medicinal.

Hence me pointing out that Oud & Bergamot is one of the few perfumes based on the smell of oud wood - not oud oil.

Welcome to Basenotes, Steviereds. This place is like the Hotel California. You've been warned!
It is true that fish stink. It is also true that the river is
beautiful. But the river would be beautiful despite the fish. What
    is noxious remains so.

That is not to say that sh*t is not useful when buried in the wheat
field. Bread made from the field tastes sweet, wine from the arbor
sweetest. All things serve a purpose, but that is no reason to
glorify what is abominable. A man must still watch where he walks
    and keep his sandals clean.

Thanks for the welcome guys!! I was bored today on my day off so I decided to take a walk in the freezing cold that we are having and made a purchase. Picked up bulgari black and I must say, I like it. Also, Angel men survived the wind and cold pretty well, can still smell it a few hours after my walk. Have a good night
