    Thumbs up Chopard Noble Vetiver

Tried this one today and was highly impressed. It's not a vetiver bomb, this is woody oriental scent. It starts in the woody way of, for example, cdg wonderwood. The base is herbal like in the kenzo boisee and vetivery, but still with an oriental woody aura. The longevity is good.

in Moscow. It is very expensive here. Definitely, this is woody Wonderwood with a green peppery drydown.

    A few questions:

Does it smell natural or synthetic?

Does it have an interesting evolution?

Is the wood note unique? I rarely see mahogany listed in notes lists and when I have, I've tended to love the unique, soft, rich warm woody note it provides. Is that how you'd describe the wood note here (sorry I don't have any experience with Wonderwood!)

Is the bottle as nice in person as it is in the pictures?

The opening of soft and feminine woods ia rather synthetic. The drydown on the other hand is naturally green and peppery.

The evolution ends after 5-10 minutes when the fragrance becomes herbal. On the paper the evolution doesn't exist at all.

As for me I don't like herbal scents, so if Noble Vetiver wouldn't have this evolution, I will buy it (for me it is better on paper than on skin).

The woods are not warm and rich (but soft), so I think you'll not like it.

The bottle doesn't look so expensive as in the picture, and unexpectadly not heavy.

Rhus khus - a vetiver that is distilled in copper pots - starts out smelling very green, aromatic and almost minty (as in mint leaf) and later dries down to a fresh green pepper smell. It's quite a transition, and also quite different than other vetiver distillations. Perhaps such a vetiver note was utilized here? Are there any aromatic green elements to the opening at all? It sounds like from your description above that there isn't. Do you think it is perhaps present but being muted or hidden by other notes?

You can be deceived by the name of the fragrance, but vetiver here is not the central note, it is just one of the components.
