Exclamation Far distance between Top and Middle is meaning what?

Some fragrances are too different from top to middle.

    Example:
Dominant Neroli in Fleur Du Male's top. It will go in 20 seconds and you will have something different.

What do you think? What is this meaning for you?

I wish I could say, but I try very hard to avoid top notes.

It has no meaning to me, really, I don't see any significance in that. I'll buy a fragrance if I like it as a whole, or at least if I like the middle and top notes. So I guess if I don't like top notes I want them to last less and vice versa. The difference between the top on middle notes however has no significance in how I interpret a fragrance.

I think that it shows the fragrance doesn't have harmony! It could be a negetive point IMO. I count perfumery as an art, and keeping Harmony is important in every arts.

"Complex" is one of those words which can mean good or bad... which is why it's such a good word to have handy.

"How did you like my new play?"

"It was".... a mess... disconnected... impossible to follow... "complex."

"Oh, I knew you would appreciate it. Thank you."

"We're really proud of our 2009 Pinot. Here, give it a try. What do you think?"

I think broccoli notes are really rare in Oregon Pinot Noir and they really don't go well with the prune and bacon notes... sour... now I'm getting the distinct flavor of cake flour... and some lime... "Ah.... It's very complex."

    "Exactly."

In a perfume, complexity can be good or bad.

I voted for "Other". Just as DeepSilence, I find that such fragrances lack harmony. My example is Omnia Crystalline: a lemony start and then it morphs into the warmth of the original Omnia. What's the point? These two stages convey very different moods/fit very different occasions/seasons. But when I am wearing it there's only one mood, one season and one "day". So please, make them so that they harmonise with themselves.

A contradiction between the top and middle notes does not make a fragrance complex (in my perception this comes from simultaneous notes creating a tension).

I mean of Complex is using many notes in a fragrance. That matching them together to be difficult. Maybe 1 and 3 options were one.
And maybe i should use Complicated instead of Complex. Please accept my apology because of my poor english language.
Bonsai, thanks! your comment gave me better vision. I have not thought about Occations, Moods, ... in this case.

And thanks everyone for your inputs until now...

Maybe it means that the topnotes burn off before the heart really come up.
