Are you serious? Start by reading the reviews from the entry in the fragrance directory. Also try using the search function. This frag is probably one of the most talked about on the forum. You will read for months on it. LOL

Not to be rude, and welcome to basenotes, but I have a feeling that not too many people are going to answer this as there are countless other threads already on here referring to Green Irish Tweed. Some of them tens of pages in length. Just type in Green Irish Tweed in the search, and you'll get hundreds of opinions. Furthermore, check the directory. There are hundreds more reviews posted there...

Its probably THE most discussed fragrance on basenotes.

    But again, welcome.

    GIT is great, btw.
    I smell better than you.

A lot of people, especially inexperienced noses generally find it similar to Cool Water, however GIT is a much better scent in terms of quality. Sniff it for yourself. It's a classic scent regardless of how popular it is, I find it leagues better than Cool Water.
    SEEKING BOTTLES OF:

Aramis New West (preferably old bottle)
    Patrick by Fragrances of Ireland

    Never heard of it.

    J/K.

I agree that you might want to search on this topic. It's been discussed at length many times before.

    Most importantly, welcome to Basenotes!!

Hopefully no one is getting mad, and just directing him to the search function, the review section and most importantly welcoming him to the site!

    First: Welcome to the Basenotes

Second: It's one of the disgusting fragrances i have ever seen.

Third: Try Cool Water, don't waste your money for this.

Fourth: It's ONLY Creed fragrance that could get 4 of Luca Turin !!

I'm sorry if I sounded like an ass in my first reply but it just seemed strange someone comes in and on their first post starts a thread on GIT with a 'what you think' question and nothing more. I read on this forum for about 2-3 weeks before I started posting and found that search function pretty quick using it regularly. As well as the directory was a major reading source.

Welcome to basenotes.....but still think it's weird.

I sampled this for the first time today and I honestly think it is hugely overrated. Yes it's smooth, easy-wearing and full of quality, but as a scent it is just too plain! And before you fanboys go off, I will full-wear sample it another twice before I fully pass judgement.

    Firstly, welcome to Basenotes.

For me, GIT is the singularly most versatile fragrance in my wardrobe, and I'd never be without it. Do try it.
Life's a bitch. If it were a slut it'd be easy.

First welcome to Basenotes. There are a lot of nice people here. Yup, a lot of fuffle over GIT. The same goes for Pure Malt. Use the search engine. Oh, have you tried Musc Ravageur from F Malle yet?

GIT is that special scent where one day you wake up and ask yourself -

"What was I thinking? Did someone drug me? Delusional perhaps?
    - How on earth could I ever have kept saying for so long that GIT smells like Cool Water, when now it smells absolutely nothing like it"
    Cheers,

I confess, just in opening it's like Cool Water. In drying down differences begin to show themselves.

Welcome! As a new member, you may wish to consult the archives before posting. This is a well-discussed scent here:

Wearing my all-time fave today and I still think it's the bees knees. If I can keep only 1, GIT is it. It just suits me the best of all my scents, and it smells like "me" to me. Three sprays is chugging along great 7 hours later.

I get tired of TDH and SMW (numbers 2 & 3), but I would never part with GIT!

You know, Green Irish Tweed is just high up on my list as well mostly because of it's intended purpose and function. I can wear it anywhere and anytime without it feeling awkwardly out of place. However, it doesn't knock my socks off, but my nose doesn't get extremely tired or bored of it. It's really good, just not great to me, but the versatility combined with a decent longevity gives it more purpose than anything I've ever worn.

I think it's a great fragrance, and a classic. However, it's definitely on the boring side to me personally. I would relegate it to a "safety fragrance" if it were permanently in my wardrobe. It will never offend anyone. It is good for slumming or boardrooming. It has the kind of Cary Grant classy non-seriousness built right into it. Oddly enough, having tried a number of Creeds, I'm beginning to think it's the only one I would actually get good mileage out of.
