Default Lanvin Avant Garde: So Good

    "You smell fantastic!"

That's the out of the blue compliment I got today wearing this. If you like tobacco scents, you must check this one out.

Own and like this one a lot. Moreover, quite reasonably priced.

Own and like. I've seen the 100ml go for $23. Probably one of the best deals going right now.

Very under rated, very beautifully composed. I wear this to work a lot.

Bought it blind after seeing it mentioned a bunch on here as a quality tobacco frag and good value. Received it last week and it was my SOTD yesterday. Really happy with this one. It has a slightly aromatic opening but overall it's a pretty warm and sweet beeswax tobacco amber frag. Probably most appropriate for cool weather. I got pretty good wafts of scent for probably 4-6 hours, and it lasted as a skin scent out to 10+ hours. It's a solid frag especially considering the price.

I've stopped blind buying scents like this because of the aroma chemicals often being used in large amounts these days and also because the "good part" of many of them don't last long enough. I can get Bogart Pour Homme for about half the price of AG, but since I already own BPH I'll just be satisfied with it (and a few other tobacco scents I own).

I was considering blind buying this, the bottle alone looks nice enough. However, I fear it may be too similar to something I already own Like CK Shock, or Spicebomb.

Now that sounds like it's got the kinds of aroma chemicals I want to avoid !

It is a very good one, sad I decided to sell my bottle...but it's so cheap, no biggie to pick up another And to The Cologneist....like vinramani said, no need to worry about it being like Shock or Spicebomb. It's not similar at all IMO...as a matter of fact, I'm regretting not selling my bottle of Shock instead!

Glad to see you came around on it!

I find the first 10 or 15 minutes a mess, but then it hits its sweet spot--a rich, deep tobacco/honey mid that smells really good.

It's a great scent for the price, but i got bored of it and i don't reach for it often like i used to.

Still keeping it in case the enthusiasm comes back in the future.

There's a 100ml of this on the clearance rack at the Winners (TJ Maxx) next door to work right now for $34. Been reisisting it because I've been buying way too much and also own Pure Havane already, which it sounds very similar to.

Anyone able to comment if it's Pure Havane-ish? For what it's worth, I don't find PH all that nice to wear, turns cloying on me way too quick.

This thread talked me into springing for a blind buy. Found it cheap online. I'll report back. Thank you,BNers, for another great recommendation I never would have found on my own.

You can get it about $10 cheaper online. All I can say about PH is that I did 2 sprays from my bottle and then put it up for sale. AG I wore quite a few times before I foolishly sold it. I'm not a huge tobacco fan, but AG was smooth, classy and easy to like to me....in a comforting way.
