Default Is Perry Ellis an attempt to improve upon Etiquette Bleue?

I haven't tried Etiquette Bleue but from what I've read it sounds like Perry Ellis for Men (1985), and it sounds like the perfumer may have had Etiquette Bleue in mind when he or she created it. Has anyone tried both, and if so, how would you compare the two?

I faintly remember what Perry Ellis for men smelled like. I have Etiquette Bleue and to me they are quite different.
