Default Any Serge Lutens recommended for summer?

Yeah, that's it. Lutens i've tested so far are massive florals or rich orientals. Do you think there's any Lutens that can be used in hot spring or summer?

Don't count with L'eau...an expensive aqua de whatever.

I used some last summer... some were very bad (cuir mauresque, la myrrhe, ambre sultan), those i found nice: un lys, serge noire, encens et lavande, arabie, el attarine.. Douce amere was ok but i retested it recently with cold and i feel it better than this summer.

It's hot as hell here in the summer but Serge Noire and Five O'clock au Gingembre work very well. Both are quite refreshing and not overly sweet.

Unlike Mon-petit, I find La Myrrhe quite good for the summer, since it doesn't have the woody ambery apparatus of other SL. It's powerful, though, but again, may be you and I differ in our perception of sillage and longevity.

I received my first ever, non family member, compliment (about a fragrance) from a woman while I was wearing Arabie.

Try Kurkdijian's Luminere Noire in lieu of L'eau - a much better version of the genre. Feels like it will work fairly well in the summer.

From those that I have read, I realized that the most refreshing and light perfume of this house, is five o´clock. Is this correct?

The most refreshing one would be L'Eau, the "anti-perfume" as they promoted.
there couple of scents that lighter than 5 o'clock. Clair de Musc, Iris Silver Mist, Louve, the Cellophane one..the list goes on..

The day before yesterday the temperature reached 100 (record-breaking for this time of year) here in Houston and I wore MKK. It smelled just as fine as it always does. I think I've mentioned before that it seems like a good portion of the SL fragrances are inspired by regions of the world that are in a hotter climate to begin with.

On a side note, I'm starting to believe that the whole season thing might be as much BS as the 'what fragrance should I wear for sleeping, drinking a beer, doing grocery shopping, ______ing, etc.' thing.

So long as there's air conditioning, you should be good to go and not fret about how your fragrance is going to behave.

You can wear any type of perfume in the summer, i prefer Ambre Sultan myself.

mon-petit is the Serge Lutens expert take his advice! Then add Joe's advice = add Gris Clair to the list.

I wonder if Iris Silver Mist would make a good summer scent?

MKK, lightly applied, is wonderful on summer evenings.
Datura Noir and A la Nuit also scream balmy summer evening. And 5 o'clock, though I have never tried it in summer, seems logical.

Here in Cairo it hit 38C back in April. I wore my steady favorite, Tubereuse Criminelle. I loved it.

Perhaps a better question is, what types of smells do you avoid in hot weather?

    L'Eau

    Postumo,
Fleurs de citronnier is my personal favorite floral from the SL line, it has more to offer than most of the common floral frags out there, IMHO (crushed lemon leaves, lime flower with pollen & honey anyone? I myself love it!). FdC smells springy and warm to me, hence, I tend to wear it mostly in spring. I actually rarely wear it in summer so I'm not sure if it would work for you in hot weather though.
Un lys is really nice if you don't like massive floral. Sa majeste la Rose is another good floral without being massive to consider!
I also recommend Feminite du Bois, it's amazingly intoxicating in the heat.
Also, +1 for MKK (if you can take the sweaty civet, which many people hate - I actually think it's the best part of MKK, haha)
For a more masculine option, don't pass on Vetiver Oriental! (in my imagination, VO smells like wet, newly-cut vetiver in the top - bracing & fresh; with a soft, milky woody base. Wonderful!)

Anything you like but conservatively since the heat, apparently, influences your choice of what SL to wear.

Yep. And I have to add: give SL L'eau another wear or two. It's great stuff. Gets much better with repeated wearings. There's a lot more going on there than you might have caught on the first one or three wears.

I like Santal Blanc in the heat.

I suspect Iris Silver Mist would have a cooling effect in the heat but I haven't had a chance to test my theory yet.

I tried this on a hot day a while ago. To my nose, it brought out the spicy side more rather than its coolness.
