Default SOTD Thursday 9th December, 2010.

Good morning scented friends. I am up early for a day's teaching and
have decided to wear Laura Biagiotti's ROMA. It is freezing cold still
outside and very icy on the roads. Drive safely mes amis!

It's a Habanita day today. In the afternoons I keep thinking I should try layering Ouarzazate and Parfum Sacré one of these days, but I never remember that at half past five in the morning. Hope you're all having a lovely day.

Ineespenes, is there a chance you'll return as a full employee?

Everyone is smelling lovely this morning. Mimi, my mom recently surprised me by asking about EL's T-G. I got her a sample and it came without a cap. Which was good and bad. Nice because the box smelled of it, and it's beautiful. If she likes it it may be a mothers day gift. (Other holiday presents are planned for this season.)

When the Espices d'Hiver came a sample of Sienna came with it. And again, I read the notes and thought, 'Uh, no. I don't think so.' But we were both there me and the vial. So, I tried it. Oh my gosh! That's gorgeous. Why have I been so afraid of civet? Sienna is just the most gorgeous thing! And today, it's my sotd.

    Hello all!

I'm in FM's Une Rose this morning, and I'm thrilled to find the Une Rose I fell in love with once again! It's utterly, thoroughly, gloriously rosily divine. But it seems I can only enjoy this in cool weather. Tony surprised me with it for my birthday this past summer and I was devastated to detect an asphalt note from the very beginning ....hot tar - blech! But it's gone now - hooray! I still think I might do what you do 30 Roses, and find myself a pretty locket to enjoy it when it's hot out...or maybe this is just a winter rose for me. That'll work.

Happy birthday rickbr - wishing you a very special and fragrant day!

    And hugs to everyone! ((everyone))

Evangeline, I bought my locket at a mall accessories store aimed at young people, called Temptation. Here it is,only cost about $18. Closes with a magnetic clasp. Otherwise check out "aromatherapy" or "Vinaigrette" items online.:

Thanks 30 R! I've also seen some antique buttons that were originally intended to be scented, but they usually run a bit more than $18. I'll keep an eye out for the lockets.

You know, I used to put a bit of my sotd on a cotton ball tucked inside my braar, and then at the end of the day it would go in the drawer as a sachet. I did this almost every day (and I had dozens of wee sachets) but then I just stopped - I'm not even sure why I stopped, maybe I ran out of cotton balls, but that might be a quick fix, too....unless it's still effected by body heat, which would most certainly be the case.

I tried the cotton ball thing first, but the body heat still affected the perfume's development. That's why I went to the locket-- large enough, and on a long enough chain to be worn over clothing, not directly on skin as a smaller locket might be.

Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere, my first sampling. I have about 4 other Chanel samples coming so I can try some of the line. I'm really liking this one so far, very different from things I've bought and worn in the past.

A question for you all. I find that if I spritz the tops of my hand/wrist, I can smell the scent better than the inside of my wrist, etc. My skin seems to eat the scent, and I'm not sure if that's because the scent fades fast, I'm on my computer typing, my skin chemistry or just me becoming unable to detect it after wearing it for a few hours. I'm looking at the idea of the locket in your posts, and the cotton ball, but are there any tricks or do you have some insight for me?

    Happy birthday Rickbr!

Hi Elizrj -- I wear scent on back of hands also -- and forearms, rather than inside of wrist or neck, as that's where I can smell it best while working. My skin eats scent too -- sometimes more moisturizer seems to help, sometimes it doesn't -- I'm resigned to reapplying frequently. (I do intend to try 30 Roses locket idea, one of these days.)

Evangeline, that's interesting you were getting hot tar from Une Rose... I'm going to resniff and see if I can detect that... I was interpreting that first odd blast as acrylic paint (the kind that comes in a tube.)

I've been on a green and chypre tip in recent months, so this gem that was born the same year as me was a great find - it's kind of like an oriental with a green chypre twist to it. When I had a bottle some time in my late teens or early 20s, it was this very twist that put me off it but now it's a great bonus.
