Oh yes... world class. We have a large and very strong Japanese community here in Portland which definitely influences the place. The Japanese garden in Portland is exquisite, and ranks with the best gardens in Japan.
But, if you like the gardener's arts, don't forget the International Rose Test Garden (wherein the perfume enthusiast can get fast education in the note Rose) and our Chinese garden which extremely well-reputed for its young age. Portland is the City of Roses (they grow like weeds here) and Portlanders in general love their gardens whether vegitable or flower or somewhere in between.
Well, I am reminded that the name is actually Mostly Honest Don's Machine Gun Parlor. But, a fun store anyway.But.... Don's Machine Gun Den.....mmmmm. Hell, that's American as apple pie!
New York often puts its nose in the air thinking it has everything to offer what with Saks and Henri Bendel and all of that, but I doubt that there's any shop in NYC -- legitimate at least -- where you can pop in a buy yourself a machine gun. Yes, Portland loves its niche stores.
Oh, and don't forget world-class microbrewe beer and the internaltionally-famous Oregon wines.
Yeah, it's a nice place to live.
Oh... and about the rain... It's a myth that it rains a lot here. We put that out to discourage the folks from California from moving here. The truth is that it only rains once per year in Portland. Of course, it starts in September and doesn't end until June.... but July and August are usually dry. (In all seriousness, we did get three inches of rain in one day this last Saturday and that's a lot of rain.)
Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead. The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and richness to life that nothing else can bring.
If you're in Portland you've got to check this place out! It had been months since I last stopped in so I was overdue. As someone mentioned if you can get there during a weekday you'll pretty much have the place to yourself. Without even realizing it I think I was there for about two hours. Brought home a couple Amouage Opus samples among others, I'm determined to find something from this line that's wearable. From the back she brought an oil out for me to try, I think it started with a T. Probably Tribute, but it could have been Tayyiba. All I know is I've washed my hands twice and showered and it's still as potent as the moment it went on. I see some sort of pure oil purchase in my future, this stuff is relentless!
I think I've spent close to a grand this past week on Fragrances
How are the prices, are they pretty reasonable compared to LuckyScent?
What's these guys website or how do you phone order?
