Default So I understand the need for reformulations but....

why do these new forumulations have to be "weaker" or "more short-lived" versions of the original? I mean, change the formula if you have to, but why does that almost always mean longevity must suffer? I'm speaking almost exclusively about D&G PH. I remember wearing this only 6 yrs ago while in high school. All of a sudden its one of the meekest fragrances available. What gives?? Can anyone explain why reformulations are almost always synonymous with poor strength or longevity?

Because a big reason for reformulations is to use cheaper ingredients in order to increase profit margin.

Cheaper ingredients >>>> less quality >>>> decreased longevity

The more often you spray, the faster you run out of juice, the faster you buy more.

There should be a law against using the same packaging and not labeling it as reformulated, but our lawmakers have much more important things to do, right?

Haha...I agree. I guess I wrongly assumed that most or all natural ingredients have some synthetic counterpart and that all synthetics last a long time. It just saddens me that fragrances of inferior appeal can have such relentless projection and persistence. Its like a cruel joke...
