Default Valentino changing hands and being repackaged

I have seen Valentino scents in TK Maxx recently but you can't test them in that shop. I went to another store to test them, but was told that they are not in stock till the new year. Valentino has been bought by the Prada stable, which is Procter and Gamble.

The Valentinos will be repackaged for the relaunch, but the helpful staff didn't know if anything was being reformulated.

If you love your Valentinos, get them now at TK Maxx, or buy them up online.

Just to clarify: Valentino has been bought by Puig from the old owner, Procter and Gamble. Puig also manages the Prada perfumes.

Thanks for that, I must have misunderstood her ( I thought it sounded slightly odd). I was impressed at the staff in a big dept store being so keen to keep me informed. They went off for a while to find out why they didn't have any Valentinos.

Our Puig rep told me to expect a launch around October 2011

That's later than I thought. It will be off the mainstream shelves till then?

We're selling our stock as normal, so I guess it'll all be "cleared" out soon.

Thanks Gblue. It is useful to have info from someone working on the inside.

I worked for Valentino back in the early 80s, talk about his majesty! I remember getting my mother a bottle of his first fragrance that was simply called Valentino, she hated it. She said it was too sweet and old fashioned. The woman never liked friuty florals, I'm like her.
Anyways, will Mr. Garavani's first foray into fragrance be part of the new Puig line-up? Or has it since been discontinued? Was I just off topic? Sorry.

Kevin, I don't know if that one - Valentino - is on reduced sale at TK Maxx, but I know that they are selling Very Valentino and Absolu. I don't know any of them at all. The only Valentino I know is the lovely Vendetta in the fan-shaped bottle, I bought some on eBay where you can still find it especially in mini bottles.

Out of curiosity I've looked for Valentino scents everywhere I've been recently, and have found none in the usual stores. I've decided not to make any blind buys without testing.

Perhaps someone will give us more info on the future with Puig.

As for 'his majesty' - tell us more about those days if it is repeatable!
