Homage, but .... I find the drydown of molook (malook?) to smell like the opening of Homage while the drydown of Homage is a little on the forgettable side so I tend to wear them together but separate: Homage on the left side Malook on the right. Anyway I think Malook (molook?) is a little cheaper than Homage. Malook also has a more traditional middleastern feel than homage in the opening so in a way you get more: traditional opening with homage-opening like drydown.

The "cheap" ones I've tried and felt were worth buying are Jasmine and Sandal. The musk is nice but very very weak and the rose is this heavy duty rose oil very difficult to wear you might even say awful.

This is probably a stupid question but... why are these fragrances so expensive?

    @ moreda

Arrrgh...I did not know Ashgan Attar does exists. I believe it's a limited edition isn't it.

    @ Eildor

Apparently in Middle East countries you could get them cheaper than the US or Europe.

I wouldn't be without Homage or Tribute, why settle for one or the other. Luckyscent offers 12ml for $350.00. I would buy 6ml of Homage for $151.00 and 12ml of Tribute for $237.00 from www.zahras.com - only an extra $38.00 and you could own two of the best scents currently being produced on our planet.

Tribute would have been my choice but the cedar drydown simply cheapens the composition, as well as ruining my enjoyment of it. I mean after paying so much money, the last thing you want is a mainstream masculine designer drydown...
I agree totally with this. Tribute is too commercially perfect for my taste.

+1 Al Andulus and also did like Molook but could not talk myself into buying. Where to find Al Andulus? Is it exclusive to Selfridges? Harrods?

How much Ashgan 12ml cost in Oman? Which is nicer Silver oud or Ashgan?

From what I understand, Silver Oud is actually a pure Cambodian Oud oil?

Have you smelled it and is it good oud? Where you got it from?
I'm thinking to get my first oud oil but not sure where to start.

6 ml of one of these will last you a long long long time

and the reason they are so expensive, really, is so you won't smell every other guy wearing it. that's the only real justification. and so the less "traditional" the more they really are worth so much, I'd say

they are being pretty kind selling 6 ml for less than half of 12 ml, although... it could be annoying to the people who paid for 12 ml. I got mine 2nd hand, which is the other option. paid about 200 for 12 ml.

Hypothetically speaking - Tribute, but would never personally consider buying any Amouage attar.

I spoke with Amouage yesterday about their attars, they mentioned IFRA was causing a real headache in the EU and hence the decision to stop the attars. I also received an email from Fitjar, a Norwegian shaving product company, who are closing their business as the EU requires detailed documentation for each product and it has become too burdensome.

Back to the question about Amouage attars, choosing one is close to impossible if you've tried most of them. I can only say my favourites are: Tribute, Homage, Taifi Rose, Badr al Badour and Ayoon al Maha.

Does anyone have any experience with the limited edition Ruh al Oudh? Is it a blend? Or a pure Agarwood oil as the most expensive in their line (Khaloud, Silver) claim to be? If so... of what origin? Very difficult to find any details on this one other than the "Spirit of Oud" translation and the flowery copy that sellers like to post. It often sounds like these have never smelled it.

Taifi Rose and Tribute are the stars of the line-up. I would also look at Al Andalus, Al Mas, Asrar, Ayoon al Maha, Badr al Badour, Bel al Dien and Shams al Doha. TPC has the good version of Badr al Badour which beautifully balances rose and oudh.
