Don't like either, but I respect both. I'd go for Azzaro (more dated) but I prefer Rive Gauche.

Rive Gauche is nicer, but I would say its not really dated at all.

Neither smell dated to my nose. I prefer Paco Rabanne pour homme, but Rive Gauche pour homme smells more like the grooming products of a barber shop.

I'm not a fan of Paco Rabanne pour homme. Theres much better fragrances out there on the market. And one of them happens to be Rive Gauche Pour Homme
Seeking: Bottles/decants : of Feeling Man, Gucci pour Homme, Essence of John Galliano, Nicole Miller (vintage), Opium pour Homme, Oxford & Cambridge...etc.

Seeking decant/sample of Jil Sander Feeling Man, Cacharel Nemo, Bijan for Men EDC, Lanvin for Men, Giorgio VIP, Il Lancetti and other old school frags ....etc. I have samples to swap.

    Please PM me !

I prefer Rive Gauche PH, too (and don't think it's dated) but I recently grew to like vintage (!) Paco Rabanne PH too. This one actually smells a bit like from another decade.

Of the two, I prefer Paco Rabanne overall, but to answer your question about which one is more "barbershop" in character, it is definitely Rive Gauche.

I wouldn't call it a fresh vibe (as in fruity/sporty fresh), it's kind of warm so not my first choice on hot summer days but it is still very versatile and basically wearable during all seasons.
