I like both. But if I had to choose one over the other it would be Fille en Aiguilles.

Hands down Fille en Aiguilles. Christmas trees over Red Hots.
Your nostrils, which will dilate immesurably in unspeakable contentment, in motionless ecstasy, will ask nothing better for space, for they will be full of fragrance, as if perfumes and incense; for they will be glutted with complete happiness, like angels who dwell in the peace and magnificence of pleasent heaven.

I've grown really fond of my sample of Fille en Aiguilles lately, so I'd pick it.

Fille en Aiguilles certainly grows on you... It's certainly more complex than Rousse.

Too easy, FeA, by an endless, bottomless margin.

I find Rousse to be a watery and unfocused cinnamon affair. FeA, on the other hand, is quite rich; its thick pine sap note has a lot of depth and character.

I don't think the two are all that comparable, but I have a strong preference for Fille en Aiguilles. Like Kevin, I find Rousse pale and hollow at its core, with insufficient weight to sustain its spicy entry. Fille en Aiguilles, on the other hand feels both balanced and original in its blend of conifer sap, incense, and dried fruit. For something more comparable to Fille en Aiguilles in content and character, I'd try Wazamba or Zagorsk.

Fille en Aiguilles ofcourse. Its so deep and complex. A true Serge Lutens. IMO Rousse is dedicated Cinnamon scent. I am not a fan of Cinnamon but even if I were I would still choose Fille en Aiguilles for the pine and more importantly the rich sap scent!

FeA for me. It is rich, thick, complex, and very very long lasting, with an incredible sillage. Great scent for cold weather.FeA is like a so much better version of Hermes Ambre Naguile.

Yeah, not too many fans of Rousse here, eh' ? Me either - Fille en Aiguilles is the sh*t. It's easily one of my favorite of the newer Lutens.

Fille en Aiguilles for me, too.

It is more stylistically akin to Ambre Sultan and Chergui (both of which I believe you already own, Sailim), being somewhat sweet and dense in texture. The combination of that richness with the pine is wonderful.

I like Rousse quite a bit, though, probably more than most Basenoters. It is in a different style than the others I've mentioned. It is primarily a cinnamon based frag, but the cinnamon is very dry and woody, not sweet at all. I agree about the hollowness in the middle and its lack of complexity, but it wears very well and smells good. It is overall a lighter, leaner, drier, simpler frag than Fille en Aiguilles.

Is Fille en Aiguilles a fragrance that can be worn easily in the summer months, or is it stuffy?

As others were saying, the main note is a strong pine, which has distant similarities with burnt incense, but greener (it is a very different pine from other renditions, say, Pino Silvestre, which is much fresher and herbal). At times, it feels like walking in a conifer forest in the winter, with the wood and the resins and the like. It also reminds me of the church I used to attend as a kid - in retrospect, the "incense" they burnt there wasn't probably true arabic frankincense, but some mixture of incense and more affordable conifer resin.

Fille en Aiguilles. Probably one of the better SLs in recent years.

Rousse has a minimal odor, isn't it? Ideal for lovers of minimalist fragrances

No. You got the wrong impression. It's not "minimalist" in any way I can think of. It's very spicy and certainly sweet. It draws a lotta attention. Poor longevity, though.

I mean it has a simple cinnamon flavor, without complication.. Am I doing wrong?

    Poor longevity, really??

One of the worst Lutens scents in terms of longevity. It's Woody cinnamon-y but that's not all.

If you want a cinnamon-based scent get Cinnabar by Estee Lauder. Quite available and can be easily worn by a man.
Rousse is a simplistic yet it lacks something IMO.
