Thread: Best Comme des Garcons
What is your favorite fragrance of perfume house Comme des Garcons and what is proposed as ideal for hot days or the entire year?
CdG 2 is a versatile frag IMO.
Another vote for No2 , also love No3 , the incense series , the sweet series if you can find them ....
CdG is a very nice perfume house.
I need to learn more about this house, I liked the first CdG I sampled titled Wonderwood.

CdG 2 is the most accessible and probably the easiest to wear.
my current top five (always in transition)
Dior Eau Noire
HdP 1725 Casanova
Dia man Amouage
My favorite is the original Comme des Garcons Parfum.
For hot weather, Vettiveru.

Avignon and Zagorsk are my favourite from the incense series, both are very churchy, (but the whole incense series is brilliant), I like the original CdG parfum (spicy rose, with lots of clove and nutmeg), Cdg2 Man and Sequoia from the red series. One of the Guerrilla series ( i think the number two) I remember to be a lovely floral. It is a very good house in my opinion, with extravagant fragrances.
I've tried many and own(ed) a few and among those I love Jaisalmer, CdG 2 MAN and Vettiveru. But if I had to choose one only, it'd be 2. It's a very special fragrance to me.
I love Incense Series: Ouarzazate, lovely and very versatile. Not the most interesting fragrance from the house, but by far the most wearable one for me, year-round. I suspect that Odeur 53 makes a great hot weather scent.
Comme des Garçons Parfum, 2 Man, White, Avignon, Kyoto and Monocle Scent One: Hinoki are all marvellous, too.
Where can I find Comme de Garcons frags?
Everyone is somebody's weirdo.
Think I got mine from luckyscent.
I enjoy Avignon, Quarzazate, and Vettiveru enough to have picked up bottles. I have many samples I've yet to test from CdG so my experience is limited.
I'd say the smooth Vettiveru is a great year-round scent (vetiver in the same ballpark as L'Occitane, Roger & Gallet, etc.).
Next best are: Kyoto, Jaisalmer, Ouarzazate, Sequoia, CdG Man2, CdG EdP, Hinoki Scent One, Peppermint, Cinnamon, Vetiveru, Wonderwood.
The Original EDP, 2 Man, and I will say the Anbar Cologne is one of the longest lasting EDCs I have ever worn. It behaves more like an EDT.
I have order a sample of Cdg 2 man. Does it have some similarities with L`homme Sage?
I haven't smelled L'homme Sage yet, but I could imagine that the fragrances from Divine would be quite different than CdG.
+1 Vettiveru, FB worthy for me.
We're all in the same game; just different levels. Dealing with the same hell; just different devils.
Strangely i've just received in the post today a full bottle of Avignon and a sample of Kyoto.
On first test i do prefer the Avignon and it has much better longevity (Kyoto disappeared quite quickly on me).
Of the other CdG i've tried, i haven't disliked any of them as was very impressed by Wonderwood and it may be a future purchase.
For me, its CdG original scent, Kyoto, and the Carnation.
Hinoki is a Holy Grail for me and I also love many more from the house. No one does wood and incense like CDG
Is the juice worth the squeeze?
2Man and Wonderwood, love 2Man especially. Hinoki is a great fragrance as well, however it's not one for daily usage.
Current top 5
1. Creed Vintage Tabaróme
2. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Absolue pour le Soir
3. Comme des Garçons 8 88
4. Montale Black Musk
5. Profumum Antico Caruso
Have as perfumes respected longevity?
My favorite has to be Kyoto.....For Hot weather I really like Odeur 53 and 71.....CdG 2 Edp and CdG 2 Man are also fantastic!!! I wear CdG White during the holidays!!!
No one has mentioned Scent 2: Laurel.
What has the best longevity? (except Anignon)
For spring: Calamus or Lily
For Summer: Odeur 53 or Harissa
For Fall: CDG 2 MAN or Palisander
For Winter: Comme des Garcons EDP or Odeur 53
so... as you can see we're having trouble just choosing ONE. Ie they do a lot of good work.
IMO: Avignon and Palisander.
NEW STUFF FOR SALE - TOM FORD, Guerlain, Acqua Di Parma, Serge Lutens, Byredo, Diptyque, etc. .
Most of the time I am very proud of the Basenotes community. Time after time I have witnessed the thoughtfulness, empathy & genuine friendship that members of this community extend to others - oldtimers & newcomers alike. There are other times, however, when egos get the upper hand and civility goes out the window. My philosophy is that I won't say anything here that I would not say if you were standing in front of me. Welcome to Basenotes, each and every one of us. ~ TwoRoads
Hinoki blows all the other scents out of the water.
Aside for Series 7 & 8, I think most of their scents are worth smelling. My favorite would be calamus, followed by the original and then the colognes & synthetic series.
* 2 Man
* 2 EdP
* Odeur 53
* Odeur 71
* CdG 3
I just purchased CDG 2 man. On paper, it smelled nicely strange and churchy. However, on skin in the current 90F weather here in DC, the lemony part is stronger, and it works perfectly as a fresh but interesting summer fragrance, almost an alternative to vetivers or citruses.
Cdg 2 Man
Daphne (for women)
CDG is a great outfit!
Best Round Year:
CDG 2 Man
CDG for Stephen Jones
CDG for Artek Standard

Odeur 53 and too Odeur 71 are perfect summer scents. Hold against the contemporary 'fresh' mess, they really shine with sophistication.
edit: I get the concept of these rows and collumns scents, sherbet, incense etc. But, they should have been less exepnsive to make sense. To have say 5 -simple- fragrances from various series would make sense. Alas, it is too costly for the costumers who may be addressed by the concept. Teens, and maybe even young mid twenty professionals won't be able to pay about 400$ to follow the idea. Spreading a whole set of easy, clear simple 'spot-on-x'-scents over the individuals of the crowd makes perfect sense. Again, it was to costly to work. I blame them for that.

Kyoto, Laurel, and Tea are my favorites.
LUXE Patchouli and Champaca. ( expensive but really good. The Patchouli scent is incredible if you like patchouli . )
Though CdG is an excellent house - some really great scents .
For sale. Carnal Flower and Vero Profumo Onda.
For summer : Odeur 53 and Hinoki
I haven't smelled them all and it's quite a big & varied line but Avignon and Hinoki are both great on me. I also like CdG 2 man
I love their 2 and Vettiveru too, plus the Standard they developed for Artek.
+1 on CdG 2, Hinoki, and the incense series
Their incense are very well done!
Favorite: Comme des Garcons EdP (although I must admit my new bottle of Comme des Garcons EdC is wonderful too)
Best for hot weather: Scent One: Hinoki by Monocle x CdG
"Seize opportunity by the beard for it is bald behind"
Sequoia; such a wonderful wood scent, I think it's miles better than the modern woods they have done.
Currently having a love affair with Hinoki. It's like Gucci PH Fraicheur.
2man, wonderwood, odeur 53, kyoto. I really want to try hinoki, though!
Hinoki. Fresh piney mountain cabin with a little turp to keep it real.
