Default Maison Francis Kurkdjian Absolue pour le Soir

Hi guys. What do you think of this one? Is there enything similar out there, and is it very different from the cologne version?
-I like Hermes Bel Ami, Michael Kors, Divine L`homme Sage and Musc Ravageur. Do you think I will like this one?

I think it's one of the five best releases of 2010. Actually it's the best release of 2010 now that I really thought about it. Yes, it's very different than the cologne. Totally new frag.

Sample first, I think it's a love or hate frag. I love it, but you may not.

When I first applied it on my skin I found it disgusting, but few seconds after I just fell in love. It is very strong, but it's wonderful. Kurkdjian is a genius. The only problem is that it is so expensive...

Ya know Joe, I put a lot of thought into the best release of 2010. Octavian Coifan voted for Panache and Portrait of Lady. I own and love the both of them. Both should be on the five best releases of 2010 for sure. I absolutely agree 100% that Absolue pour le soir deserves the title "Best Release of 2010"

I own and love Panache. I have yet to try Portrait of a Lady - but it's on my list to try soon.

I have smelled Cologne pour le soir and Absolue pour le soir. THe Cologne is too light. The Absolue is reaaaally intense! It's so intense that it's bordering to smelling "dirty" or "skanky" but in a good way. If they could make something just in the middle, that would be great! This series reminds me of Bois d'Armenie by Guerlain. Now this is something in between Cologne pour le soir and Absolue.

Edit: My favorites are Lumiere Noire PH and APOM

It's a good scent. I just don't find it original enough to love. It seems like a cross between a few fragrances I've tried. I do agree, it was one of the better releases last year, but 2010 in general was a bad year for fragrances, so I guess it edged out.

I think it's incredible. It will be repurchased when empty.

I personally use Cologne pour le Soir more often due to its wonderful overall presentation but Absolute is excellent in one of the most unique ways I've ever come across. I would describe it as incensed thick honey.

Is it intense and dirty in the same way as Epic / Fumidus etc?

I have not smelled Fumidus. I don't think Epic is dirty. Epic is spicy-woody-incensy-leathery-with oud. The cumin in Absolue Pour le Soir doesn't smell like BO smell that you find in Al Oudh by L'artisan Parfumeur. Absolue Pour le Soir is more of a dirty-rugged smell. Think of the patchouli in Borneo 1834, that intense.

I cant speak for Absolue version. But for the Cologne version, i think its pretty close to Musc Koublai Khan, where u replace musk with honey and cashmere-like note.

I think you will LOVE it. It has similar feel/texture to Musc Ravageur.

I can see where you're coming from. The Cologne version, although it's lighter, the longer it is on skin, it gets stonger. Did that make sense? hahahaha

Im testing it right now. Wow, wheres my favourite "bandyard accord" This is a lot different than Cologne Version. Whereas the Cologne is airy and thick, this is wet and thick and sweet. Still, its similar to Musc Ravageur in texture and ... colour if u understand me.

    Have fun deciding Oslo-Fjord

P/S: Somehow i still smell incense in here. Very familiar. . If i have to choose, i'd buy the cologne version, but for Matin, i'd buy the absolue simply coz it smells deeper. OH well, if i had the money, i'd get the whole line. Francis is AMAZING !

    Nice!

I just took out my sample of Cologne pour le soir. It reminds me of Ambre Fetiche of Annick Goutal

Absolute pour le Soir reminds me most of Musc Ravegeur; but it is not exactly like it but the the musk aspect is similar. There is more mystery and naughtiness with AP le Soir - the night requires a bit of naughtiness at times. It is very potent - you must be ready for the attitude that will come with this scent. A fragrance to enhance the mysteries of the night.

Aqua Universalis is also nice scent. It is a light-citrusy fragrance with a touch of sophistication. However, I would still pick APOM over this.

It reminds me a lot of Moss Breches. Personally I don't get too much of the Musc Ravageur vibe.

and based on those scents you describe, I think you'll love it, if you don't already. WAY more than Noir Epices.

Finally sampled this and I would unequicvocally choose Musc Ravageur - APleS was too dirty for me, plus I really didn't love the sweetness aspect. Not something I would personally want to smell like, but I could see where others would like it. Worth a sampling for sure.

You really have to try it first, I smelled it from a strip and also from the bottle and is really nice but the thing is your skin chemistry, when I apply it on my skin it was soooo bad on me that I have to scrub that thing off. The skanky part of it was in front and never letting all the other parts to be part of it. If your skin chemistry works is an awesome perfume.

I have been wearing recently both Absolute Pour Le Soir - Musc Ravegeur on each arm, back of the hands etc.. for several days. Result they are two distinct different scents but both have great longevity. Musc Ravegeur being very close to the skin with a deep creamy cocoa/cinnamon. Absolute Pour Le Soir is definetely a "master piece" , its not only a contant soft deep cream but has the animalistic edge that tinkles with your senses reminding you of 'unclean thoughts'.
If you like Muscs Ravegeur and your a fan of Serge Lutens / Muscs koubli Khan then your going to take too Absolute Pour Le Soir. For me Absolute Pour Le Soir is the meeting place between the two.

I think houses should rename their bottles in certain countries. If you take the average American and show him a name like Maison Francis Kurkdjian Absolue pour le Soir, there's not going to be any attraction to it based on the name/first impression alone. If you say this one is called Pure Coffee, he'll probably be a lot more interested.

I would actually tend to think the other way. While some people are apprehensive about trying to pronounce things they don't know how to say in a store, these types of fragrances are geared towards a different demo who aren't that type as much. Also, people here seem to gravitate towards something they deem "exotic," which is why you'll find things like apartment buildings called Bella Vista. I doubt you'd find many apartment buildings in Italy called Pretty House.

To the scent being discussed - I really do enjoy it and have been testing over the past couple days, but I think I'm finding that I prefer Cologne Pour Le Soir, as I feel like I have scents that fill the spot the Absolue is after. I haven't done any in depth testing though, so that's just from initial reaction.
    I'm a colognosaurus. Rawr!

If you take the average American and show him a name like Maison Francis Kurkdjian Absolue pour le Soir, there's not going to be any attraction to it based on the name/first impression alone. If you say this one is called Pure Coffee, he'll probably be a lot more interested.
I don't see this fragrance sitting on the counters of Macy's next to something like Acqua di Gio and having any real mainstream appeal any more if it had the most mundane English name than if it had the longest and most pretentious French name. Not only is the scent itself not what most people are looking for but the price tag is going to be far higher than what your "average American" is looking to spend.

I like it but wish it came in a larger size.

I personally use Cologne pour le Soir more often due to its wonderful overall presentation but Absolute is excellent in one of the most unique ways I've ever come across. I would describe it as incensed thick honey.

I absolutely wholeheartedly agree. But then again I love everything Maison Francis Kurkdjian.

Anyone think that this is a less dense Amber Absolute from Tom Ford?
