Red face I just found a gem!

Went on another sampling spree, I have 125ml's worth of Mark Birley C Street on the way and was thinking about ordering Frank No. 2 next until I sniffed this bad boy:

Is this typical of fig? If it is I'm in love!

    Perfect fall fragrance.

I noticed his review on BN, the only review posted. I submitted a short review myself and told him his snotbox is broken. Doubt it gets published though.

On another note I was also impressed with Atelier d'Artiste by the same house. I will continue to sample it, might be a purchase down the road. Didn't really care for Foret de Becharre.

Do they only release the one size bottle for all their frags?

I'm new to the world of fig, is it supposed to be girlie or something? It might even be the kiwi I'm in love with, I dunno.

Honestly no idea...I just thought the name was odd.

I've tried Diptyque's Philosykos, and found it pretty blah. Actually it smelled like a wet leaf, which I found impressive, but not something I'd want to wear. I'm a fan of Ferragamo Pour Homme, which features fig. That's the extent of my experience.

If you're interested in exploring fig as a note, you might like to check out Fico di Amalfi in the Blu Mediterraneo series as well as L'Artisan's Premier Figuier.
I've never smelled Figues et Garons though, sorry. The name does conjour up something vaguely Caravaggio-esque...

It smells like weeds to me.

Thanks for the suggestions, when I order my next bottle from Lucky Scent I'll look for these as my freebie samples.

I really like Philosykos, it captures figs in the raw very well. Premier Figuier is supposed to be really good from L'Artisan as somebody else mentioned; I've had 3 people from BN who I speak to in PM's or offline suggest this one to me.

I get weeds in the opening then it dries pretty light and somewhat pleasant.

I would second Fico di Amalfi from Aqua di Parma, I'm not mad keen on fig notes, but I think this is a very elegant interpretation of it.
In a world where people smell bad, it is the personal responsibility of every Basenoter to improve the world one SotD at a time...

The only perfumes featuring fig in my collection are Halston Unbound for men and Cerruti Image and to me both perfumes are pleasant but nothing to call home about. I was wondering if Figs et Garcons was similar to those.

Believe it or not, I've never smelled a Halston fragrance.

Standard boring warm base that's been done a million times over? Or is it actually a little different? I've got a couple dozen things with amber or vanilla that dry down to the exact same scent as the next.

Never smelled a Halston fragrance????, can not believe it, honest, specially coming from a basenoter.
Is like somebody would tell me he has never tried spaghetti!!!!, Halston are such mainstream perfumes. Halston 1-12 and Z-14 are classics along with Catalyst and Unbound (both for men and women).
You should give them a try.

I see them in TJ Maxx and Ross all the time, but they don't have testers and I'm not the type who would open sealed boxes to smell something.

Halston Unbound is pretty much AdG only with more melon in the top.
