This is true. I love those ladies at TPC, but the pricing is just insane. I have not bought from them in years.

There are lots of samples available at the Crystal Flacon, and many of the sellers there are UK based: http://flacon.ambaric.net/viewforum....8db58655656a41

    Also try ScentSplits: http://scentsplits.wikidot.com/current-splits

You really need to develop a sample trading circle there in the UK. I was part of one here in the US for a few years and it was very cool. We just sent sample packs around and you would add to it as it came to you. You could make requests, etc. Great fun and a free way to try new things you might never have samples otherwise. Tough to organize, and you need to be selective about members. You cant have someone join who just collects a million samples and never adds to the pot. That frustrates everyone.

Exclamation Buying samples in the UK?

Hi people, Newbie here. Just recently got into scents during the past year, Have a small collection so far but I'm interested in trying new ones, But here in the UK we arent as lucky as you US guys with sites like luckyscent/perfumesforabuck ect.. I know some of them ship overseas but there is that risk of them being damages in transition.. So to get to the point, Is there any alternative sites like those but based here in England? The closest I've gotten so far are them freebie sites which give you links to companies giving away free samples, Or I find them on ebay hugely overpriced any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Welcome!

I have bought from the Perfumed Court and another BNer in the States with no issues of damage.

A UK site you can use is Les Senteurs, but they have recently ramped up their prices to 5 a sample. Not great value but, as you have found, there is not so much choice. They do tend to give 2-3 free (and top notch) samples when you buy a full bottle.

ebay is not a bad place for samples tbh

You can buy from here (usually Basenoters selling, some of them from UK):

    http://flacon.ambaric.net/viewforum.php?f=2

or here, they have a good sample service:

    http://www.ausliebezumduft.de/

    Another choice is:

    http://www.allaviolettaboutique.com/eng/default.aspx

Also a lot of companies sell samples in their e-shops.

If you still can't find what you want:

    http://theperfumedcourt.com/

    High prices but huge selection.

    Another two:

    1. UK-based (limited selection of barbershop-type scents but generous samples):

    http://connaughtshaving.com/colognes.html

    http://connaughtshaving.com/aftershave.html

    2. Germany (similar service to ALZD, slightly different range of scents):

+1 for this one (international site is called First In Fragrance) - I've ordered from them, and it was one of the most pleasant online shopping experiences I've ever had. The way they packaged up my order alone was a huge indication of how much they actually care about what they do. I was well impressed, and I'll be ordering from them again...

I've actually had good experiences so far ordering from both Luckyscent and FragranceX. The Perfumed Court were fine, but it took a while for the various bits of the order to all arrive...

    Hope that helps!

Maybe shouldn't tell you all else they'll stop doing it! A few weeks back a fellow Basenoter recommended a Geo F Trumper cologne. I emailed the company asking if I could order a sample. Customer services said 'No problem'. So I tried my luck and asked if they could include a few other samples.

2 days later... A parcel arrived. There were 10 (!!) cologne samples, half a dozen shaving creams and some 'skin food'! This was all completely free by the way!

Les Senteurs are also good for a wide variety of niche frags - Creed, Amouage etc - if you don't mind paying. 5 a sample but free if you can make it to the store in London.

Another vote for Aus Liebe Zum Duft; samples much more generous that Lucky Scent and without the customs and high shipping charges.

    I always double check if the fragrance company offer sample packs on their website. It can be much cheaper than a bespoke sample service (or ebayers). All these companies offer samples cheaper;

    http://parfumsmdci.free.fr/index.php...=en&page&id=82

Don't forget Escentual.com do sampler packs in their 'Try B4 you Buy' program. They are also very keen to hear what customers want. If you request a certain Niche house, they will take note and I'm sure if enough people ask it will encourage them to make contact with other companies to provide a more extensive range.

I also swap on MUA for samples and decants. It can be great, I've been introduced to many fragrances that way. However swap agreements are obviously not as straightforward as purchasing and requires more work and more patience.

Good news for UK fragrance enthusiasts as their is a new site selling samples/decants. They used to be on Ebay but because of changing regulations have decided to set up their own website. Looks like you can also trade in your old scents for cash/swap/store credit. Check it out:

I am in a similar position but I do have the tracking number for the items I ordered, it just looks as though the items are somewhere in the postal system - possibly the Post Office are tightening up?

To be fair, service up to this point with Scensamples has been really good - I will let you know how I get on

    Right, here is the update.

The original package from Scentsamples is still somewhere in the postal system although there appears to be no man/woman on the face of the planet that confirm exactly where it is.

With this in mind, Patrick at Scentsamples arranged for a replacement order to be sent - he confirmed yesterday it had gone, this morning it turned up. From a service point it has been really good and I can have no complaints other than with the Post Office.

Hey, I'm just looking to buy from scent samples but before I do I just wanted to check that the consensus is that it's a trustworthy website. I think i'm a bit worried due to the price of things like Kilian, Creed and Tom ford PB. Kilian Back to black is little over 50 for 30ml and Creed is 60 for 30ml. It seems suspiciously cheap. Has anyone got any thoughts on this?

    Thanks

If you really are buying that much volume (i.e. 30ml) for a Creed, then you could probably get it cheaper from an online discounter. I've not had problems with these people though.

The problem was with Scentsamples system, but they sorted it out pdq and I've had no problem with subsequent orders.

The site I bought from was http://www.scentsamples.uk.com/

There's another site with a similar URL but I haven't ordered from them.

    Hi,

I eventually went with Perfumista.co.uk following a pm conversation with it's owner. It's a new site and the range isn't as extensive as scentsamples but I can vouch for the quality and speed of packaging and delivery. (I ordered on Wednesday night and received on Friday). Similar prices to scentsamples as well.

    Hi Matt,

Glad they arrived safely. Without want to be too much of a plug, I'm trying to foster a 'testing club' approach to the site and only intend to add a few each month. I like the idea of people being able to sample something new each month whilst I try them out too. Its not just a 'stack it and sell it' thing for me.

Well that was a fun trip, went to Liberty today and asked for a Frederic Malle sample and the guy just went back to the counter, gave me a little box and said "normally, you need to buy something to get this, but I didn't serve you". Sadly I wasn't quick enough to give him a "AHA I SEE YOUR GAMES, I SEE IT! YOUR SECRET IS SAFE WITH ME" wink. But yeah, nice generous 3.5ml sample
