    Default MPG Route de Vetiver

How badly was this damaged in reformulation? I hear some MPG's were badly damaged and some not so much.

Don't know which one I have, but really wouldn't matter as I just love it.

Is your bottle 3.0 oz or 3.3 oz?

It got butchered. The old was a wonderful and deep, earthy, slightly fruity and inky (the black currant) vetiver, whereas the new seems much more like a straight vetiver oil. Very bland in comparison to the old stuff, and much lighter and brighter, too.

I have the reformulation. Never tried the original. I love the reformulation. Definitely my favorite Vetiver.

That would be the newer juice.

The reformulation *is* a good vetiver in its own right, but it's just nothing like the vintage juice. I can't even evaluate it objectively because to me Route du Vetiver is supposed to smell like the vintage juice - dark, smooth and earthy - not dry and bright.

I have not smelled the 'new' juice. Some people prefer it because it's supposedly more floral.

I guess you should just decide for yourself and smell both.

IMO there is NOTHING that smells like the vintage juice. It's smells the closest to the smell of dirt. Besides, Dirt by Demeter, of course. Ray says it smells, to him, like pulling up a beet root out of the ground and sniffing it. And a couple sprays lasts a LONG time.

I always described it as a scorched earth scent, as if black soil were kissed by the sun. This is one scent I wish I'd purchased a full bottle of. Oh well, at least I have a decant to enjoy.

The vintage is far superior IMO.

This reformulation is the one MPG that I found to be an instant scrubber.

Does anyone find vintage RdV to have a slight salty effect in the dry down.

No not me hedonist. Very root/fresh turned dirt. No salt (although I'm familiar with salty vetiver notes)

I cannot understand why they'd reformulate it the way they did.

I haven't smelled the new one yet (I remember it being recommended to me, when I was looking for a 'floral vetiver' years ago). But it gets such a bad rap I haven't taken the time to search out a sample.
