    Impressive observation and analysis.

    My 1oz GIT has LOT: AC03Y07 on the box. No numbers on the bottle but etched on the back of the bottle is GREEN IRISH TWEED.

    So, I did some more analysis of the 7-character lot number system (from ?-2007), and speculated based on my data that the 2nd "letter" is the scent ID code:

    Examples:
    B=31=Erolfa*
    C=32=GIT
    D=33=MI*
    E=34=NS*
    F=35=SMW
    G=36=RW
    H=37=GV*
    I=38=Tabarome*
    J=39=Himalaya
    K=40=OV
    L=41=OS*
    (N/A)42=Aventus

    *yet to be verified, so please contribute with your numbers!!!
    If this is for the 8-character system, then I don't believe it to be correct. I am looking at my 2008 2.5oz GIT, lot sequence: A3208E02. Obviously the 32 for GIT is correct, as is the 08 for the year of production.

    I wrote that the 2nd letter representing the scent ID was only used for the 7-character system.

    Thanks for the number!

    Yeah, at first I only found 01, 02, and 03 at the end, but with the help of the people on this forum I've got a few numbers ending in 04 now.

    Makes me think: Could this be representative of the year-quarter in which it was made (ie Q1, Q2, Q3, or Q4)?

    Hahaha. No thanks, I have my hands full analyzing human DNA for my thesis.

    This Creed analysis only arose out of my personal frustration from not knowing where to buy legit bottles online.

    Now I can just ask sellers what numbers are on the back of their bottles.
    In fact, I just tested this out this morning on the bay and on the "for sale" forums here at bn. You should see the repsonses I got, from "It's EM77277B63," to "oh, Creed never put numbers on their testers," or "only the newest bottles have numbers," etc. (although I have to admit that ~50% that responded gave me legit numbers).
    And as for online retailers, I now have a discernible method I could use to determine whether or not I should make a return.

    Thank you for the very interesting analyses, John.

    Here’s the lot numbers of the three Creed’s I own:

    Good luck with your research!

    Himalaya 2.5 tester with for testing only on the back....AJ03U07
    SMW 2.5 tester with the same thing printed on the back they were from scentiments....AF03U07
    Erolfa 2.5 tester from allshewants on ebay where I got my GIT MI OV VIW theres no lot number etched in the bottle... but on the bottom it has a stamp that says lot number CB02Q07 thats weird!!

    oh wait I just read your pre 07 post.....I wonder why its stamped on the bottom with ink and not etched on the bottle.

    I've done a bit of research and analysis and i've figured these out. Before 06 or 05 (not sure..) Creed didn't post the lot#'s but rather just stamped the date on the box. Also I think in 09 creed started using the dotted ink on the bottom instead of the solid ink along the back ridge.

    FWIW, I have 5 bottles at home.

    2.5 oz SMW
    2.5 oz Green Valley
    2.5 oz GIT
    2.5 oz Original Vetiver
    1 oz Millesime Imperial

    The Original Vetiver and Green Irish Tweed were both purchased from Beauty Encounter. The Millesime Imperial and Green Valley were purchased from Neiman Marcus, and the Silver Mountain Water was purchased from Saks. Only ONE bottle has a lot code, the GIT. As you can see 3 bottles were purchased from authorized dealers and none had the code. How do you like them apples!?

    GIT a3209x02
    GIT a3201d08
    AAluminium c1808a01 and c10008a01 (on same box, presumably top and tail?)
    Erolfa c3108e02 (fwiw box is embossed 2004)
    Tab Millesime a3808d01

    OSantal c4109u01
    Neroli Sauvage c3408b02
    MI c3309t01
    VIW c6208c01

    All purchased through official stockists

    Edit to add - The base of the A Aluminium bottle has only c1008a01 printed onto it (maybe stamped incorrectly on box then corrected??)

    Edit again to add - the GIT a3201d08 (2001; appears to be inconsistent with the theory?). Not convinced of your logic for 'C'reed and 'A'reed ;o)

    Have you looked at the rear of the bottom lip of the bottle? Some have the lot no etched on there, not always easy to see.

    Brilliant - thanks for your excellent analysis.
    I don't have time to do them all now but here are a few which may be of interest:
    Bought in reputabale stores in the UK:
    Box stamped 2003: Bois de Cedrat lot CB21U05
    Box stamped 2003: Santal Imperial CI21R05

    Bought In 2006 from reputable UK store: no date stamp on box RSL Lot CH21U05

    Bought from a reputable UK store: Citrus Bigarrade: CU22B06

    From internet/unknown origin:
    Jasmine IE box stamped 2002 30ml AS1R05
    REL tester 75ml AG21R05

    I'll try and do more later.
    Hope this helps - look forward to your interpretations.
