Default Fragrances You Would Not Wear In Public

For me it's Czech & Speakes Cuba. I really like the fragrance as it has a great tobacco accord but the times I have worn it in public I have gotten more than a few weird looks.lol....... So now it's one I enjoy when I know I am not going out.

So what fragrances do you have or have tried that you would not wear in PUBLIC?

Wow, that's a good question. I would probably say Versace The Dreamer. To me, it smells exactly like "sabzi," which is a commonly used spice in Persian cuisine (my family is Persian). It would be like an Italian walking around smelling like oregano or an Indian walking around smelling like curry. lol, can't do it!

Whilst there are certain fragrances I might avoid wearing in specific social contexts, I can't think of any that I would shy away from wearing in all public situations.

really?? aramis?? wow! i cant imagine heading out the door without even a squirt of it. funny how different peoples tastes are! i would say salvador dali pour homme. at least not in the usual quantity i wear. aramis though- its so soft and unassuming and... good! im really surprised aramis made it on to this one. so do you not like aramis or does it seem offensive or did you have a bad comment on it?

    Gucci pour homme
unless I buy myself a suit and tie, and perhaps grow a beard

And probably Noir Epices though I find it really nice, gives you a wake-up call, it's just way to much.....
Perhaps French Lover also, which smells great but is a bit to "classical" or simply reminds me a bit to much of what some old man would wear, altough I think anyone can wear it really......if it doesn't remin you of just that what it reminds me of.
Probably wont buy a bottle of those two, and the Gucci one I'm planning on getting rid of.

Probably some of the cheapies. Although I'm more than happy to wear Brut, Brut Alaska, Brut Musk, Mandate, Blue Stratos, et al outside the house, I wouldn't wear Cofinluxes's Taxi (my SOTE), Umbro Elite Skill, Revlon Fire and Ice men or my £1.20 Turkish tobacco cologne (longevity reasons on that one mainly though.)

I enjoy them for what they are, but they do smell noticeably cheap. Anything else I don't wear is because I'm not in the mood for it, or like in the case of Cool Water, I've been specifically asked not to. (It smells like a friend's ex.)

I would never say never but I am yet to wear Amouage Gold in public. Have had the remnants of it on my wrists in work the day after but that's as far as it goes.

Axe - the public is exposed to that crap enough already.

Agreed, although I'm still a little too self conscious to wear most womens frags.

It makes me sad that some don't like wearing Kouros. It's a lovely fragrance just go easy on the trigger!

I have a bottle of Joop! and another of Forever and Ever. I did not purchase them myself - a female relative simply didn't want them, and I was glad to have a few more bottles of scent. I would never wear either in public, nor when entertaining friends. They are airy bits of nothing that I apply occasionally, in strictest solitude, if I want to smell something pleasant before sleeping. If I had to spend an entire day with either, I would grow bored at its bland sweetness.

Heh - after reading the review of this last night, I knew it would be in this thread somewhere. Having said that, I am going to try it.

I can see the Aramis thing. I bought a small bottle myself a while back, but just couldn't get on with it. To be fair, I almost certainly oversniffed. It is, well, no shrinking violet. It makes a statement.

    And that statement is "Dad".

Having said that, I know it's a classic, so I've just ordered a tester to try it again, with a bit more patience.

To respond to the OP, I think I would feel awkward wearing Grey Vetiver in public, unless I was suitably dressed. And I do actually love it; it's just so sharp, sumptuous and deeply elegant that unless I was wearing a suit/black tie/new clothes, it would be like adding a silk tie to a tracksuit. Damn you Tom Ford!

There are some scents that are vintage and very valuable that i keep to smell every now and then just because there's so little of it and i am afraid if i wear it in public they'd get lost in the hustle of daily life.
They are too precious to wear outside.

Funny, one of the drawbacks to me of buying Cuba was that I wasn't sure how often I'd wear it out but I love it so I bought it. Although I do only wear it out occasionally it's one of the only fragrances that has elicited compliments from women I didn't know.

I can wear each fragrance from my wardrobe in public. I buy a fragrance because I want to wear it . I wear what i like and feel comfortable with at that particular moment or place, regardless its price or its category( mainstream-niche/ masculine-feminine).
