Default Eau Sauvage • Extrait •

Pure perfumes for men are all the rage now. An Extrait de Parfum of Eau Sauvage is coming from Dior. Myrrh and vetiver galore...

I wonder if it's gonna be indole city, or just superstrong on the citrus/green aspects I always loved most about Eau Sauvage ???

I hope it has nothing to do with that awful new relaunch of ES Extreme.

What is your source? There's nothing about it on Dior's official homepage.

I like the idea of this, especially after seeing what Demachy did with some of the Privι Collection stuff.

Interesting. Wonder if it's going to be a limited edition like Fraicheur Cuir.

Eau Sauvage appeared to be a cologne, fresh and light but not too fleeting. It made sense as such. I can't imagine that a pure perfume would amplify especially this effect.

I don't think they will or can extend the citrus top notes of the original. vetiver and myrrh addition makes sense though.

the part that doesn't make sense is an "eau" becoming a parfum.

Nice. Just tried the EDT for the first time at Sephora and was surprised how much I liked it. Hope to try this one for sure.

Terre dHermes and La Nuit de Lhome, maybe the discontinued Limpact de Por Un Homme are the only ones that i know.

considering the historic rivalry between those two fashion giants, maybe Chanel will react somehow but I'm afraid it won't be related to Egoiste!

But in this case is Parfum, or Pure Parfum, or Extrait. Different from Eau de Parfum.
There are a lot of EDPs out there, but only a few parfums.
Another one that i just remembered is Habit Rouge Parfum (wich i bought a decant last week)

Agree, seems we're in the minority though.

I am optimistic however about the concept of creating more concentrated and longlasting versions of traditionally "light" cologne-style fragrances. Trefle Pur is my favorite example, utilizing patchouli, moss, and musk to extend the green light accords.

I'm glad the designer houses are heading towards extraits. Let's see if they can get some good noses, use high quality ingredients and give niche a run for their money.

They'll have to start thinking different, because offering extrait in of itself means squat, if not executed properly.

I am totally into this ! Recently I ordered a sample of Givenchy Monsiuer just because the reviews relate it to Eau Savage. Eau savage extreme was just my sort of thing but POOF it went off the market without me owning a full bottle.

    Can't wait to try this.

They very well can retain the overall character of the contemporary/timeless aspects of Eau Sauvage. And IMO that is the citric and green aspects of it. I'd really despise this if it manifests as an indole/vetiverol monster.

I really hope this will be a modernized version of eds in the same way tf gv is a modernized guerlain vetiver. I hope for signature bitter opening, only slightly sweetened, more vetiver/woods and less herbs, dark but subtle amber myrrh drydown...

I respect your opinion. I didn't particularly like the old ES Extreme but it was a interesting, strong and fierce interpretation of the ES theme. This one should be named differently since it's basically a new perfume, which one can like or not but it has IMO nothing whatsoever to do with ES.

I can't find any supporting evidence for this statement anywhere on the Dior website....... can you enlighten me?
Perhaps you're talking about the original ES Extreme and the more recent, re-formulated ES Extreme?

I really like the most recent version; unfortunately I missed out on the original incarnation.

Also, I'm very interested in this extrait version - if it exists...... has anyone actually seen or tried it yet?

Yes. The old one said "Concentree" while the new says "Intense"

I do actually recall now having seen this information in an earlier thread here on basenotes, when the re-formulated version was first released.

    Thanks anyway, Monkeybars.

No prob. They are different as night and day. The old/Concentree being night of course. I like it, but I like Lancome Trophee better. Intense is not really my cup of tea . . . I have trouble with many synthetic florals like the ones used in it.

Cheer up. There are plenty of perfumes that work across Extrait / EDP / EDT / EDC versions. Not so many traditionally masculine ones, of course, but ultimately it will come down to what Demachy does with it. My curiosity is piqued at the mention of myrrh as an addition for the parfum - let's see what happens.

Not without it smelling like a synthetic cleaning product.
