Edit: Oh! Since about 2005, apparently Indiana does now follow Daylight Savings Time.
That's right, I asked Thalia to describe everything that she saw on the picture -- and she PMed the correct guess wink wink
Darkdreams, uncanny how you find such suitable ones!

It is my second Blind Sniff hosting together with darkdreams, and we seem to work fine together -- I PM her my general idea, she develops it a little bit, it gives me grounds to elaborate, etc. It does not mean that we like the same scents, just listen to her as she is going to be cussing and cursing sniffing Sample C -- if she chooses so -- but she shapes up my strategies and I criticize her tactics. It is not an argument, it is normally a discussion.
Pictures -- I just gave DD the set of fragrance notes and some personal remarks, like I share with you in our reveal posts. She sends me a picture. I say "It is sort of fits, but are there more?" I do not even have to tell her what is wrong with the picture I am looking at -- she says "I know what you mean, but good pictures are hard to come by". I say "OK, this will work, but do they have something similar in a lighter color?" And we continue looking. She somehow knows what I want.
Two years ago I was a sniffer in a Blind Sniff where co-host -- when PMed -- would say "I am so busy, do not bother me" and the host would show up for a couple of hours only. This time darkdreams was an observer and she -- together with Riannon and Musse -- would PM me with their thoughts and clues.
DD how are the pictures for C coming?
I will write a reveal post right now.

You know what is the activity I have been doing most today? Yes, looking at the white screen between the actual screens changing, with all Refresh function in use.
Anyhow, besides our actual three sniffers and Warum, nobody was able to submit a correct guess for Sample B.
It is Revlon Moon Drops (1970), USA, nose unknown. Our mass market, drug store cheapie, going in the cologne form for $150.00 on the eBay. I told you already how I got mine and how much I paid for it. Mine is 1 oz of pure perfume, now it is about 75% of the bottle.
It is old. It is not in the pristine condition and the top notes are indistinguishable -- citrus and aldehydes die young, so did peach and raspberry in mine, I suspect.
T: Aldehydes, gardenia, peach, bergamot, raspberry;
H: Lily of the valley, rose, jasmine, ylang-ylang, carnation, orris, honey, tuberose;
B: Sandalwood, musk, cedarwood, moss, styrax, benzoin, amber.
The reviews are non existent. However, I saw Moon Drops compared to EL Estee Supercologne in some, I jumped up at Thalia's mentioning EL other fragrances. Despite the oakmoss, it is not a chypre -- like our sniffers have noted -- it is a full bodied aldehydic floral with lush woody drydown. It is old school and decadent. Discontinued, hard to find. Long Lost Perfumes had an attempt of reviving this with Irma Shorrell's Luna Rain, but since it was not very similar -- people were not buying it and it was discontinued again. Here is quite a recent review of Moon Drops solid that I liked, but our was liquid and perfume:
No, I do not write this linked blog. I do not write a blog at all. Thanks for encouraging me to shout to the world in your PMs.
The modern and more known product under the name Moon Drops is Revlon lipstick which comes in a variety of colors and both matte and pearlescent finishes.
And no, I do not have a Haarmann-Reimer book at home. I saw the blogger using it. Warum was able to come up with this same blog post by typing "Haarmann Reimer 70's perfume" and a few notes into the Google search box.
Thalia and Aiona -- check your local second hand shops more often;
hilaryjane - wonderful nose, too many words at the same time. Space them so that we can swallow, please, every now and then.
me -- be kinder to people, more patient -- less sarcastic;
darkdreams -- how are Round C pictures?
All -- brush up on our resins.

Twolf I don't deserve that much attention. really, I am not doing anything and you know it!
Pictures are coming soon...
Thank you, I have answered this last PM.
darn, I missed the show!
I saw in the few reviews that are currently up that others didn't seem to like it much, but if one looks at other places online, clearly others would pay a lot for it.
I mentioned that it smells similar to Neil Morris Prowl, and that is probably why I won't be haggling on eBay. I have bottle of Prowl and that jasmine-vanilla (benzoin in Moon Drops) combo is present in its drydown. But! I do regularly scour the Goodwill in search of baby clothes/toys. I shall check next time if there are any lonely perfumes out there, looking for a home before they expire from death by open front window display.
I shall be back later this morning for Sample C.

It is 15 minutes past 10 AM here! I am late! my apologies!
Shall I start? Or wait for Thalia and hilaryjane?
Oh wait. It's at 11 AM isn't it? Darn this Daylight Savings Time! :P
I'll be back in a few. I already sprayed though!
Ane here is Ms. Twolf's own visual choice for Sample C. Good sniffing!
Thank you, DD. We both had hard time choosing a picture for this round and were debating back and forth between about 14 possible candidates, and finally decided on this one -- modern and laconic.
OK, here we go. Happy Clean Mirrors Day -- not really a national holiday, although it should be.
We are sniffing Sample C, a Designer Fragrance.
CA oversleeping as usual, but what prevents London from posting, I wonder?
I will go smoke.
Sorry to all our observers, something did not work. I know I miscalculated London time yesterday, but I corrected my mistake as soon as I figured it out.
I guess I will go up in smokes.
Do please, Aiona, seems you are the only sniffer present.
Aiona, that picture was all Twolf's chosing!
And Twolf, don't smoke too much while waiting!Please...
Sample C is BLUE.
Sample A was yellow. Sample B was brown. But Sample C is a pretty eggshell blue color. I like the blue color. It makes me think of robins' eggs.
Scent: opening is clearly aquatic. I smell melon. Cucumber. Like the cucumber of a scratch-n-sniff sticker. I don't like that smell, by the way.
I sprayed about an hour ago, and it still smells a bit aquatic, but it has a bit more floral now. As with previous samples, I'm horrible at naming notes, but I'm going to guess a synthetic honeysuckle (as I think I was told before that real honeysuckle essential oil is not obtainable).
I tried to think if I've smelled this before, and as a perfume, I don't think so. But this smell is found in many shampoos. White Rain being one of them.
And in one of the PanteneProVs I am on right now, too.
What type of smell? More floral or more aquatic in your White Rain?
(Also, I don't use White Rain because of that smell, but also because it dries my hair out horribly.)
More floral after about one hour. Any particular florals sticking out at you? (Remember yesterday -- there is ROSE in everything?)
Was I correct about melon or cucumber?
As for the florals, I don't think this is jasmine. It's kind of sharp floral smell. Tangy. I don't really care for it, myself. Or maybe it is jasmine. Seems I've been wrong every time! Perhaps its the benzoin in Sample B that made me like it so much.
In any case, if it is jasmine, it smells nothing like the fresh jasmine flowers that my parents grow at their home. My mother, who speaks Ilocano, calls it sampagita, but I believe it's jasmine sambac.
So, we got: light blue liquid, smells like synthetic cucumber/melon and then like flowers -- overall synthetic/shampooey feeling.
This rose is not the rose in Sample A. It's not nearly as loud. It's tempered with something. Wood? Sandalwood? (seems there's sandalwood in everything too!)
So far, NONE of the official notes have been identified correctly.
Something creamy/buttery too. Not as wonderfully creamy/buttery as Moon Drops (Sample B), but it is there. Trying to think of what that is!
You are lucky to have had a sambac bush back home. I like its smell.
Two hours since I spritzed, and it really smells more fruity floral than aquatic.
Perhaps the fruit is the sharpness I'm smelling? Peach? or Apricot?
No to rose, magnolia, peony.
I know it is hard when you are all by yourself, but maybe our observers have any questions?
No to peach or apricot.
It has a bit of an oily feel as well. Maybe the floral is lily or hyacinth. It's not lily of the valley though.
Hello all - sorry I'm late, have been on the phone to my mom for an hour!
I did spray at 16.00. Instant shampoo! Aquatic and fruity. Agree that it gets more floral as it dries down. Not easily identifiable florals though. Maybe what passes in perfumery as peony and freesia? I think possibly peach or apricot too?
Let's wait, perhaps. another 10-15 minutes and then log back in every once in a while. What do you say, Aiona and Darkdreams?
Oops - I posted peach or apricot before your post came up T. Maybe osmanthus then? Or lotus?
Disregard my question in the previous post.
Please let me step out for another quick one?
hilaryjane, nice to see you. Please read a minute, OK? I will be back.

Lilly of the Valley?
Already then, I know I have to quit -- not because of health, but because it is expensive.
So far so good, there is one note mentioned in #339, which is present in the official set of notes.
But: I know one aquatic fruity floral done in blue -- Salvador Dali Laguna. Is this it?
Warum, warum nicht?
Lily of the valley=NO
Oversleeping CA, well, The Left Coast is here. Sorry.
I forgot about the time change and didn't catch Wolfie's warning about "spring forward". Am I the only one who is always affected by these time changes? I feel like a fly in the first days of Spring, sleepy and slow, maybe barely buzzing. But I already heard which notes you all excluded, and that's an impressive list!
Did Wolfie say smth about freesia? That's the one that gives off an awful synthetic smell on me, I believe. Yes -- even in Beige and Ta'if. Sigh.
I am familiar with EA Mediterranean, it is floral woody musk with magnolia, so C can't be it.
Freesia=NO (you have not met the "right" freesia yet, W. However I agree it is often used in shampoos)
Towlf, I sad freesia and lotus earlier, are you saying no to those?
I've never smelled Laguna either, I've never smelled any blue fragrances! (apart from the L Lempicka one)
#339 has one floral identified correctly among C's notes.
I wish I could smell! I usually am dead on spotting a hyacinth in a mix.
Wolfie, I believe in it too. I used to think I don't do chypres, until I met Ma Griffe, I used to think I don't do woodies... etc.
Ladies, did you spray on paper as well? Can I hear your impressions how similar/different it would be on paper/skin? If it's super synthetic, the difference can be nil, I know. Based on color and overall synthetic feel, I bet it's a newish designer, does it smell that way to you?
Hyacinth=yes (from ##339 and 356)
