Default Histoires de Parfums - Ambrarem

    Too risky a blind buy?

I just sampled it and I would say no, it's not too risky.

Great fragrance but I still prefer Petroleum.

How could I not buy blind upon the recommendation of a fellow basenoter called Buys blind.

The better question, Neal, is how could you NOT?

I adore this fragrance, but I just gave a fellow Basenoter a whiff, and he was not too pleased. I think it is a safe blind buy only if 1) you like amber and 2) you like smoky/dirty notes. At that point, it's a no-brainer.

Not a fan... at all. Way too sweet, IMO. I prefer any number of amber scents over this one... Each to their own, I guess.
    Current Top Favorites:
    1) Portrait of a Lady original formula (EdP Frédéric Malle)
    2) Giorgio for Men vintage/V.I.P. for Men (Giorgio Beverly Hills)

    4)
Anat Fritz Original Formula and Classical (Anat Fritz) - tie
    4) Lalfeorosa (O'driù) - tie

    6)
Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver (Mona di Orio)
    7) Captain vintage (Molyneux)
    8) Tzora (Anat Fritz)

Got a sample of this from TPC recently. I enjoy it; however, there is a cigarette smelling vibe I get from the top & middle notes. It literally smells as though I smoked a cigarette. Not too fond of that.

I would say the positives outweigh the negatives though. Definitely a unique smelling fragrance, the essence of niche.

It's really wonderful, but you should at least know if you'd like it by the notes, if they sound pleasing to you then I think it'd be a safe blind buy. Though more complex, it smells like amber and gasoline, in a good way.

Way too sweet? What about Cary? - you like your sound sweet, but not your frags. LOL
