I really love it. As does my girlfriend. It has generated a few compliments. I don't know why it generates so much criticism. It is elegant, smooth and refined. If it were called something else there would be no issue with this one. Spicebomb is fine, but this is much more satisfying.

The more i spray this side by side with Spicebomb I'm picking up a lot of similarities. Yes they are 2 different styles, with Spice bomb being sweet and RO extrmely dry, but very similiar vibe. Not sure if i need both in my collection, but I'm really likking RO, and it appears it performs better than spice bomb as far projections. Spice bomb lasts long but sits very close to skin

Or a 500ml flacon for less than $850 ? Wishful thinking ?

Yes, after Spicebomb gets thru it's horrid candy-floss and fruity-bubblegum stage it goes into a Tobacco Vanille stage, then a Royal Oud stage. Very nice scent, Spicebomb.

I just received a bottle of this today. WOW......I love it. I picked up the parcel from the post office, got back to the car and tore it open, as I couldn't wait to try it. I then spritzed a bit in the cap (as I always do), took a sniff.....and it blew me away.

I know these 2 are not the same, but my initial reaction was that this reminds me of Sycomore. Does anyone else get that?
IMO, if you like Sycomore, your will like this.
100ml bottles are less than $200 now, and I think it is worth that. I wouldn't pay the original RRP for it though.

    my current top fragrance
i think it gets most of it's hate (or is underrated) because of the word 'oud' in it's name
if it was named something else like "Royal Tea" it would be another community hype IMO

I take the fragrance for what it is and not it's name
Don't judge a book by it's cover... fragrances likewise

May I add it lasts 10-12 hours on my skin

You can get this stuff under $1.50/ml now, and for that price this is amazing juice. At $4/ml I'd never consider it. Probably my favorite in the Creed line in terms of the best combo of scent/longevity/projection.

I know this is an older thread that somebody revived, but I wanted to throw in that Royal Oud is a very "smooth" oud. I have sampled a number of Montale's Aoud line and others and Royal Oud seems like it has more of a mainstream appeal. Some ouds can be harsh - like being hit in the face with a sledgehammer, but RO is not harsh. If you think you don't like oud fragrances you should give Creed's a try - you might like it.

RO is one of the few Creeds that I'm nuts for. HEAVILY underrated IMO. I think it wasn't named well, and that threw some people off, as I initially found the lack of blatant oud "smell" a bit odd for a fragrance with "oud" in the name. Over all though, probably one of, if not the smoothest thing(s) I've ever smelled.

I own a bottle. Smells good, POOR longevity. Projection/Sillage good for 45min, then sits close to skin, then after 2hrs, nothing. I've never smelled an oud that didn't last 8hrs...Until now. How Creed manages to make ALL their fragrances disappear after 4hrs is beyond me. FB worthy if you get a really really good deal.

I'm having a strange experience with Royal Oud. I originally loved it on paper strip. Sprayed it on my arm, still loved it after walking around for 30 minutes. It was, to me, like Tom Ford Oud Wood but with more substance and more character. So... I ended up buying a bottle before I left the store.

Unfortunately something strange happens to it after about 5 hours - the fragrance "falls apart" and suddenly it smells like all its ingredients separated and you have a pool of various scents on your arm - none of which are "oud" or even the signature Creed ambergris they have in all their fragrances. The best I can describe it is like putting a cup of talcum powder on the counter and dosing it with 20, 30, 40 different fragrances, all disconnected and not related to each other - a complete mess (not quite as bad as V&R Antidote, but still a big mess).

I really like the opening and the middle of Royal Oud, but after that 5 hour mark, I really really dislike it. I gave it couple more tries but had the same exact reaction after about 5 hours. Ended up giving the bottle away to a friend.

    I'm wearing this today.

I transfered my decant to another atomizer which does have a spritzer like a fire hose, but I've no trouble with longevity. Going into hour number 7 now and I can still smell this fine. It's not projecting, but I can still smell it. It's not broken down or anything.

Just back in stock this morning, so haven't received it yet, but have ordered SMW from Cheapsmells previously and it's been completely legit and in perfect condition. If you email them they'll confirm batch number etc...

I know there was a thread about this a while back about Royal Oud smelling like Egoiste and practically everybody disagreeing but I think... that Royal Oud smells like Egoiste, but Egoiste is more luxurious and RO is a bit less complex.

I love how Creed manages to make every ingredient sound like It is sitting in The Palace of Versailles waiting for Oliver Creed himself to pick them up....Sigh....People buy into it so who am I to poke fun.
