Red face The Extremely Late February Blind Sniff!!!!

Hey everyone, the February Blind Sniff is happening this weekend!

Yes, it's March and the March Blind Sniff was already a couple of weeks ago. I'm nothing if not unpredictable!

Our sniffers will be knit_at_nite, claresauntie, and FrouFrou and everyone is welcome to join in with any hints and suggestions and guesses.

I don't have any fancy pictures or any backup helpers, so I'm afraid things may grind to a halt when I have to work or sleep, so I'm suggesting that we keep things low-key so no one gets frustrated.

Also, I'm going to go against the way Twolf ran hers last time and I'll take guesses here on the thread instead of via PM. If someone gets it first, they win! (My only exception would be if you figure one out really quick or know it from somewhere - if you can guess before the others even get a chance to get to know the perfume, where's the fun in that?)

I'll answer questions as fast as I can!

Oh, and the theme for this weekend's sniff is officially:

NOTHING IS AS IT SEEMS - DISHONEST PERFUMES

We begin with the ceremonial spritzing of Sample A on Saturday at 7:00 pm Eastern time, which is 6:00 pm in Texas and 4:00 in California.

    See everyone then!

    Thanks, great, can't wait!

Please do not worry about not following "the rules", I have to reiterate: there are no rules set in stone, each round is independent as well as fragrance choices, it all makes this competition unique (not to give one any ideas, once we had a Blind Sniff where after a certain point the three sniffers had their choice of two questions each or six questions collectively with the answers "yes" or "no", and the fragrance was identified nontheless).

Exciting! I shall be following today! (Just as a note, Texas spans two time zones. El Paso, Texas is Mountain Time 5:00 PM, whereas most of the rest of Texas is Central Time 6:00 PM.)

I am intrigued by the theme as well! Will try to be here and guess.

With all due respects at first guessing publically did not seem like my personal favorite thing, but I will try and see -- one never knows whether one likes something until one tries, right?

The time a year or so ago that I sniffed, we guessed publicly, which was fun (it was actually Twolf hosting that one - further proof that the rules are very liquid...). That being said, it's only the 3 sniffers who are supposed to publicly guess. If you're not one of the official 3, please do send me PM's!

When I couldn't log in to BN a few minutes ago, I got scared. Hopefully everyone will be able to be here.

And I'm positively dripping in Sample A, so I'm playing along!

yes, I am getting the cinnamon now too....
It seems to smell a bit flat though... a bit cheap. But then I should be grateful to smell anything at all! This morning I couldn't smell my finacées Paco Rabanne, or my own Tabu.

Jen, oh yes! That's much, much better!!!!!!
The Q has not returned yet so I can smell without interruption which is good. For some reason he keeps thinking he should get my full attention at all times.

I think it smells cheap. I know I could fail big time if it's a very rare niche fragrance, but I can always blame it on the flu-nose and clogged sinusses.

    Rose, no.

Does it smell cheap like something at Marshalls that used to be expensive but has been reformulated into a cheapie? Or some lesser designer scent? Or cheap like a Macys scent instead of a Barneys scent? Or cheap like Baby Phat or its ilk that were specifically designed to be cheap?

If it's cheap I would say reformulated, like Dana Chantilly. That's what I was thinking of...

I'd say cheap reformulation. That would explain the "not so newness".

    Bergamot in the top?
    Vanilla later?
