they are all official samples from the dior exclusive line called 'la collection privee', not all but only the ones that i really like and hope to one day own: leather oud, granville, ambre nuit, eau noire, vetiver, bois d'argent. leather oud and ambre nuit are exceptional, granville and eau noire are very good as well, generally the whole line is very well made with top quality ingredients and quite good value for money considering the size they come in. also, is worth mentioning that the samples that they give out at their boutiques are by far some of the most generous (size) i've ever seen.

Hey, guys, I'm putting myself on a tight budget for a while, so I probably won't buy a new one this month. Therefore, I decided to clean and rearrange my babies and memorialize them here. I am proud of my little collection.

Lionheart, what a tasteful arrangement! I keep my fragrances in cardboard boxes.

I see you enjoy Histories de Parfums, Malle and EldO--so do I!

Wow! Awesome collection! Not huge compared to some, but a very high concentration of awesomeness. I like the cart - that looks very handy. Do you park it somewhere cool and dark most of the time?

Hi! Thanks for the affirmation. Yes, it is always cool and not anywhere near direct sunlight. Where I took the picture is NOT actually where I keep the cart. I know it's better to keep frags in closets, etc, but to me, part of the fun is seeing the pretty bottles displayed every day!

@Puddlemonkey: What's are those to squared bottle in the front? The one on the right looks like Slumberhouse Ore while the one on the left seems a Citrine miniature...

    ding! ding! ding!

nailed it, too bad there isn't a prize. I had to pull a bunch of stuff out of my frag-fridge today so I figured I'd take a pic. re-organized some things to get Invasion Barbare, 1270, and Argento in a front row.

I keep my collection in the original boxes. Here's most of it, arranged alphabetically by house, with the Arabian fragrances stored separately. Some of the boxes are slightly obscured by the edge of walls or closet doors. The photo just before the Arabian frags is miscellaneous stuff I had pulled out to wear or new stuff that hasn't been stored yet.

This is in the neighborhood of around 1500-1600 fragrances which I keep with me here in Saudi Arabia. I have 200-300 fragrances at my house in the U.S., which aren't pictured here. Most of that collection is vintage or hard to find frags.

i think this by far is trumping everything else i've ever seen on basenotes, or anywere else for that matter. you could open a fragrance museum. we could actually play a game with this, just for fun, 'spot the box & name the fragrance'...

I should've made the photos a bit larger, but usually when I make photos for Basenotes they turn out enormous, so I was trying to make them smaller and went too far.

I got into fragrances in the mid-'80s and have been collecting since then, slowly at first. But it was only after I moved to Saudi Arabia eleven years ago that I really got into it and the pace of my collecting picked up. Part of that was due to my interest in fragrances, but also due to the relatively boring and highly restrictive lifestyle in Saudi, where most things that are fun or interesting are forbidden.

I admire those with more discipline and who amass overall higher quality, more consistent collections. But I like collecting, and am just as likely to buy some bizarre old fragrance I've never heard of as I am to buy a Chanel Exclusif or something by one of the niche houses. There's certainly a lot of relatively unknown frags in my collection. Some are pretty good, others not.

When I visit the U.S. this summer I'll take some photos of the frags I have there, mostly discontinued or vintage stuff along with a few niche items.

Beet lifted jasmine, the way a bullnecked partner lifts a ballerina, and the pair came on stage on citron's fluty cue. Yes, it's a tiny 10ml vintage Fahrenheit and Tiffany for Men, which was recommended by Redneck Perfumisto. I really like it.

For anyone interested in the sample trays, I got them at Muji. You can label them with one of these.

I really enjoy Itasca. It has an unmistakable prettiness to it, very similar to Sycomore. Whereas the latter dips its toe into the aquatic end of vetiver, Itasca stays on the drier end with hard wood notes. It might be redundant depending on what other vetivers you have in your wardrobe, but if you want a dry ruddy wood with a vetiver sparkle, it's very nice.

It's been a while since I posted mine - I haven't added too much (kid on the way, need to watch purchases), but I've moved, rearranged, etc. I'll try to get a picture of samples and such and add that later. Sadly, I think I need to either sell stuff, or figure out another place to stash!

    I'm a colognosaurus. Rawr!
