You're probably quite right, Bigs. About half way through I kinda regretted starting the whole project. :/

Thanks Hedonist... its a "Vol de Nuit"-inspired canvas I painted yesterday which is now hanging in our hall.

Maybe you should open a Guerlain-museum and collect admission fees? Talk with the company, maybe they like the idea of a dedicated house in Down Under and even throw money at you for building one.

Mind you not a bad choice considering the major changes going on at Guerlain - an end of an era with no one from the Guerlain family no longer actively involved within the company now.

Thats very kind Chris, thank you

Without wishing to derail the thread entirely, here is a small pic of the canvas in progress, and the *almost* finished piece drying on our balcony.
I painted it to hang over a 1930s display cabinet in our sitting room, but underestimated the height of the canvas vs the height of the furniture vs the height of our ceiling. The sum of these measurements has it 'out' by 4.5 cm, so the canvas now hangs in our hall.

Socery of Scent - What made you decide to go for Guerlain? How long ago did you start this project? Which is your all time favorite scent? Which bottle or bottles do you pride the most and why? PS. The backdrop sums up perfectly the feeling and spirit of the collection - "avant garde" style - love it!

aquatic - impecable Creed choice for a starting line!

HammerFist - lovely all round collection. What are those three clear glass bottles behind the YSL Body Kouros?

Alexandr-ki - wow a connissieur great collection and well thought out. Serge would be proud of you not to mention the collection from Artisan's - just wow!

Do not think I missed any one collection on this page - if so I do apologise!

kccparis, it started in 2009 when I made a thread here on BN about buying a bottle of Vol de Nuit vintage parfum blind. I bit the bullet, and it was a life changing experience for me. I wrote about it at length here:
    http://sorceryofscent.blogspot.com/2...s-vintage.html

My all time favorite Guerlains are Vol de Nuit and Cuir de Russie. I think those "flacon rayonnant" bottles are my favorite, and my quadrilobe of Djedi. But there are a number I love to collect (eg: the Louis XVI flacon presentations, and 'parapluie' bottles).

Thanks for your kind words about the backdrop too... It was a labour of love!

    ------ Serge Lutens: Ambre Sultan

I love many of those you have, but you should definitely start sampling around! There are (almost too many) great houses awaiting your sniffing and you'd be doing yourself a disservice to stick with the Saks/Neiman selection.
