Default Searching for the next "omg" this is the one!

The last time I had the "OMG" moment, this is the one was 15 years ago at Bergdorf-Goodman in NYC. I picked up the tester for Guerlain's Vetiver and have been wearing it ever since.
I'm always in search of the next great one but have not come across. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to basenotes!

What kinds of scents are you usually craving for? Sweet scents? Floral? Aquatic? Incense? Citrusy?

Not sweet. Incense, citrus, perhaps. When I go to fragrance counters and they ask me what I wear they automatically start showing me various vetiver concoctions.

Try a sample or decant of Rose 31 by Le Labo, Carnal Flower by Frederic Malle, and Millesime Imperial by Creed.

For incense, still at Bergdorf Goodman (possibly the man store) Amouage Jubilation XXV. In the female side (or in the Chanel store on 57) try the Chanel Exclusif: Sycomore is a wonderful smoky vetiver. But also Bois des Isle etc etc

Bois Du Portugal: start with a citrus trace, woods in it creates a sense of incense and vetiver is combined beautifully throughout the composition.
Also, it isn't a sweet perfume..
A magical, unique creation. I think it is an.. "omg" scent

I love your enthusiasm for this fragrance, Sailim!! It sounds wonderful, although I have never smelled it.

And I, recently discovered it and I disagree with the opinions that smells like old man.. When first tried, I was wearing jeans and t-shirt and the girl who was with με, told me the best..
I think that is a good test suggestion

It wouldn't hurt to try a few more Guerlains - Derby & Sous le Vent are both good.

My last OMG was Homage Attar from Amouage, and if that is a bit of a stretch you could check out their Tribute Attar while you're in the neighbourhood. Memoir Man from the main line is also interesting . . .

Editions de Parfum Frederic Malle French Lover / Bois d'Orage could be worth a shot.

+1 for Guerlain Derby and also try Habit Rouge in the eau de parfum.
"No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this." Desert Rose by Sting and Cheb Mami, Album 1999.

Yes, +1 for the 2 Primrose mentioned especially if you love Guerlain's vetiver.
Perhaps you could check out Profumum's Arso ( lovely stuff .....very very unfortunate name .....but I am crude ! ) and Santalum at www.luckyscent.com.
Chanel Les Exclusifs Cuir de Russie too.

Sailim - Bois du Portugal is good stuff !

What a coincidence. I was just recalling all the perfumes I own and what I smelled and bought in Paris last week. I decided it was Absolue pour Le Soir too. I wish it came in larger sizes!

I tried an interesting combo of Escentric Molecules 1 and Lubin's Figaro. On there own, I didn't like them but together the make a wonderful scent. I'm not sure if I can buy into the Escentric Molecules thing, it seems so uninteresting to me. Any thoughts?
