    Default Smokey Rose

    Hi Guys,

Could you recommend me a glowing fruity red rose with definite woods/smoke/incense at the background?

Please easy on the oudh and patchouli, I cannot stand them in high concentration!

    Also, longevity is important

    thanks a lot

Amouage Lyric Woman sounds like a must-try for you. Also, By Kilian's Rose Oud (the oudh being only a side player... I myself can't take most oudh-centered frags) is an absolutely divine fragrance, which I had the chance to get to know today.

Eau d'Italie Paestum Rose is *exactly* what you are looking for.

Almost perfectly-unisex blend of bright rose and dark incense, doesn't change much over time but lasts well and smells positively fantastic.

Great suggestions from above. I would also like to add Lady Vengeance by Juliette Has a Gun, Oud Royal by Armani Prive and Rose d'Arabie by Armani Prive.

uhmm Lady Vengeance i did not find it rich enough. The patchouli was tolerable (at least did not make me gag) but I would not classify it as smokey .

    Thanks again all

Okay, so i tested four samples so far
FM portrait of a lady - too much pathcouli, medicinal on me
Tauer Incense rose - too woody/resinous also something sour present for 2hrs (after that smells like woods+vanilla)
Eau d'Italie Paestum Rose - the rose is somehow too much blending in - dont quite fancy the tea note

Most surprisingly so far one is the kind of rose that I like i.e. Etat Libre d'Orange Rossy di Palma. Will have to test it further though

Hmm, perhaps you should go with Larimar's initial suggestion upthread, Amouage Lyric Woman.

It is a jammy, fluorescent rose blended with, yet distinct from, a smooth Omani frankincense-prominent base with amber/vanilla flourishes. I cannot say for certain that there is no oud (there probably is, actually) but it is too well-blended to pose any problems, I should think.

Composed of excellent raw materials, it is executed perfectly. If it wasn't quite so "pretty", I would have happily purchased it instead of the men's version (which is also very good).

There is one Rose that i also like very much and i have it from a gift ,it's not very dark but sweet spicy ,i call the desert rose,Rose Ispahan Yves Rocher.
There is an inexpensive one, not niche, which includes damask rose (dark ,mysterious rose) is Enigma by Oriflame.

Lyric Woman did not turn out to be a hit (( It smell very herbal and bitter on me. No smoke, no fruity roses. Just angelica, geranium, orris root and spices. eeeck.

Hmm, that was not my experience with Lyric Woman at all. Bugger, I thought for sure we had nailed it this time.

Perhaps one of the suggestions in Buzzlepuff's "Dirty roses!" thread will be what you are looking for?

I think of Muscs Koublai Khan as a kind of smokey rose (though, yeah, it's a musky, smokey rose to be sure...) and it lasts for ages...

I strongly suspect Sonoma Scent Studio's Vintage Rose may be up your alley.

Another vote for Caron's Parfum Sacre. It's less of a moist, fruity rose than several others mentioned but it has a very definite rose/incense accord.
