Default Layering: Burberry Brit & Halston Z-14

Anyone ever try layering those two before? Quite a hair-raising sniff. I don't know if my nose was quite smelling what I'm thinking, but it came off kinda Old Spice-esque on my arm, albeit with a more citrus kick.

I first tried spraying them on my arm where I sprayed one layer of Brit and then one layer of Halston. I then tried it on paper by spraying two layers of Brit and one layer of Halston. Pretty interesting little experiment. Both have citrus in the top notes, though Halston's lemon definitely overpowers the mandarin in Brit to my nose.

I don't really have any point of reference, but it's certainly a potent mix, especially on paper. They share a few notes in all three phases:

    BRIT
    ---
Top - Green Mandarin, Ginger, Bergamot, Cardamom
Middle - Wild roses, Cedarwood, Nutmeg
Base - Oriental Woods, Grey Musk, Tonka Bean

    HALSTON Z-14
    ---
Top - Bergamot, Lemon, Basil, Cypress, Gardenia
Middle - Vetiver, Jasmin, Patchouli, Coriander, Cedarwood, Cinnamon, Geranium
Base - Amber, Leather, Olibanum, Benzoin, Moss, Musk, Tonka

Interesting. I don't own the Brit to do a test, but I do layer The Beat with Susanne Lang Tamboti Wood and get a really nice combo that brings the more arid notes of Beat into somewhat of a sublime state.

Burberry Brit IMO is fine all by itself.

Yeah, it's ok. The best part about Halston is the opening, unless you're a big fan of leather fragrances. I'm not a very big fan of Halston's base which is why I wanted to see what Halston/Brit would smell like.

I agree. I love Brit. This experiment wasn't because I don't like either fragrance apart from each other. I was just curious what it would smell like.
