Default What Bertrand Duchaufour Wishes He Had Created

"Which fragrance, besides your own, do you wish you had created?

Bertrand Duchaufour: There is only one: Dior Homme by Olivier Polge."

Once again, Dior Homme doesn't really "wow" me.

It seems as though powdery fragrances (Tiffany for Men, New York, Dior Homme and Patou Pour Homme) are either praised or hazed for how they're put together. I have to be in the right mindset to see fragrances like these as more than just powdery. Otherwise, they're just not things I'd wear.
    SEEKING BOTTLES OF:

Aramis New West (preferably old bottle)
    Patrick by Fragrances of Ireland
    Azzaro Aqua
    Gloria by Cacharel

PM me if you have bottles that you're willing to sell or trade!

Me too. I can barely look beyond strong ambers vanillas syrupy notes and powder in fragrances.

I love Dior Homme. I'm sad I sold my bottle and will probably have to get another. Hell, I wish I created it.

I love the work of Olivier Polge, but for me, Dior Homme is not his best work. Cuir Beluga is pretty f*cking awesome.

Dior Homme is a fragrance whose appeal is really an enigma to me -- it smells totally uninteresting and powdery to me. And I like quite a few of Duchafour's creations, so it's pretty interesting that he chose this.

I've probably already said it, but I really think it is the single best designer fragrance on the market right now.

I could be biased though, because I love iris.

What a great question and enlightening answer. Great thing to quote. Thanks Pluran.

Interesting. I'm in the not impressed camp, nothing really wowed me about it.

    ditto!

In another interview, when he was asked to choose his own best creation he answered Eau D'italie Sienne L'Hiver. Seriously?

Sometimes the perception you have of your own work is very different form the perception that other people have.

Count me a fan - I think it's one of the best unisex designer frags out there. But the sweetness could do with a little toning down...

Then why doesn't he move forward from his same ol' tired dark-incense and/or bitter notes formulas? Turn your wishes into actual product !
