Default SotD Tuesday, 10 May 2011

    Good morning all,
I enjoyed yesterday's Cuir de Russie immensely (because it works now for me with this sort of application) and was hard pressed to go for it again...
... anyway, long overdue - I'm in Vol de Nuit today.
How I love thee, Vol de Nuit!
It compliments so many facets of myself, so it is really a sort of making you feel complete when you wear it.
ANYWAY, before I get philosophical on this early Tuesday morning (it's sunny! Twolf, what are you up to? I mean from freezing breath to sweaty bodies in a flash? LOL)... have a great day!

Chanel Bel Respiro for me today.

I've been umm-ing and aah-ing for months over whether to get a full bottle of this. In the end I compromised by getting another 30ml decant, which should be with me soon. I think that will definately see me through the summer.

Have a safe and pleasant Tuesday everyone.

    Experimenting with vanilla scents........

Last night was Annick Goutal Vanilla Exquise, this morning is the smoky L'Artisan Vanilia.
Notes for VE: Soft, woody (Absolute of vanilla from the Marquisas Islands, angelica, almond, benzoin, white musk, sandalwood, Gaïac wood)
Notes for Vanilia: ylang ylang, vanilla bean, amber and sandalwood

So far, for straight up vanilla, Vanilla Exquise "wins".

OK I am sorry but was laughing both at the idea of Barbara Bui as heavy, and 72F as hot! I find Barbara Bui very light and setting air conditioners to 72 gets you in trouble in FL for wasting energy making your building too cold

Went back to Annick Goutal Eau d'Hadrian but this time the edt. My daughter smelled this last night & promptly picked up my butterfly bottle & tried to walk off with it. I gave her a nice little decant instead but she wants the bottle when it's empty.

Guerlain's Nahéma PdT. Nahéma was the first Guerlain naturally born as EdP (the older classics had to wait until 1986 to receive this acknowledgement, back then termed Parfum de Toilette), and it starts succulently oozy, from there just getting spicier, intenser and rosier by the hour. In the Parfum concentration everything is simply multiplied several times, a burning, thundering, compressed core of bulletproof rose, an olfactory black hole coloured in red, pink and orange.

Robin in FL, please do not laugh at the upper mid-west, we are serious here about our heat -- +93F (+32C) is quite high for our tundra, however we are expecting a plunge to the regular 40s this coming weekend. That Bouquet from AM is wearing nicely -- altogether a great rounded fragrance for those who enjoys white florals.

I came from work, put away winter slacks and pulled out shorts and light-weight trousers, now I am soaking my feet in a tub filled with cold water -- they have to be able to hop around as I still have to run some chores. Turned on all the ceiling fans == +76F inside the house is uncomfortably warm, but we are not running AC, not yet.

I think I will spritz some Terre d'Hermes, just once on the back of the neck.
