    Question Looking for that mistery cologne from around 1975 to 1980

    Hello fellow cologne lovers,

    My name is Oscar and I am from Mexico City. I have been trying to find the name or a clue regarding a cologne that my uncle used to wear when I was a kid. The only thing that I remember is that it was in the 70's and my uncle's mother used to bring it from NY. It smelled like a tobbaco and when he shaked my hand I could smell the scent in my hand all day long. And after he left the room the smell stayed forever. I smelled it twice at the LAX airport like 15 years ago on 2 diffrent gentlemen from Europe as they walk by, the smell would linger in the air for a long time.

    I would appreciate if some of you can give me a hint of what to look for. I have over 100 colognes from that era and I can not find it yet.

    Thank you in advanced for your help.

    Sincerely,

    Oscar.

    Do you happen to remember which company it is from or what the bottle looked like?

    I have no idea but in case you can't find it, if you want a tobacco scent check out West Third Brand

    I haven't tried them so I can't vouch for longevity, however I did smell them in store. Tobacco 1812 smells EXACTLY like pipe tobacco. It's an amazing replication of it, actually. My grandpap used to smoke a pipe, so I am familiar with and love the smell, but I didn't want to smell like that.

    +++Tobacco 1812
    Sweet dried tobacco leaf, aromatic spices & rich honey muddled with cocoa, Tonka Bean, tobacco flower and a layer of dried fruit and exotic wood.

    They're hard to find, a local store here carries them but for the most part, I think you have to buy them online and even then only a few places carry them. I might get curious enough to try one of theirs eventually. They're cheap enough and smell AMAZING.

    Thank for the response,

    The only thing I remember is that it smelled so strong and for a very long time. The closest one I have found is Givenchy Gentleman (the old version) My Uncle passed away and I couldn't get the name from him.

    Macassar by Rochas (1980)

    Vetiver (vintage) by Guerlain (1961)
    For those about to stink, I salute you!

    Macassar by Rochas fits into the bill, i was thinking about it too, the intensity, sillage, longevity and tobacco smell fits, but it was launched in 1980 and it didn't exist in 70's
