    Good morning all,
A hot summerday lying ahead (until thunderstorms supposedly arrive)... sampling (full wearing) The Party in Manhattan for the first time... it starts out gloriously.
I forgot to mention that I got a chance to sample Opus IV yesterday... actually, I think this is an interesting one at last. If I recall well it was not well received with BNers. It started out with a blast of mandarine and grapefruit mostly on me, went on to a heart that was centered around elemi and cumin (not in a dirty, sweaty way to my nose) clearly noticeable, overall gentle spices around the core. The base was like rounding thinks off and slowly fading out. I knew elemi essential oil beforehand and it is a very peculiar smell that I will probably always be able to identify. Havng said that it is not my thing in a perfume and I would have wanted to see more 'movement' in the base. I think it is well done and certainly one of the most ineresting of a fairly emotionless Opus series. Worth checking out if you are intrigued and interested in elemi.

Larimar, I hope you are still enjoying The Party in Manhattan; it is a lovely scent.

I should be in bed, and will be soon, but I wanted to post ahead of time once again, just in case I don't get a chance to. Right now I am in Attrape Coeur (I hope I spelled that correctly!), but if I change out later on, I will post again. Take care, all.

Guerlain's Shalimar Parfum Initial. Its ambition is an odd-couple alliance between the ladylike, très parisien part of Shalimar (the plush-pillow accord of overdosed orris and tonka bean) and a new floral naughtiness: seductive rosy notes made to glisten and radiate by hedione, then cuddly caramel, and lots of cashmere-textured musk added to the strikingly sparse vanilla. No dark corners, no vanillic smoke. The pale, blush colour of the juice is actually a perfect visual representation of the scent.

Went to a wine tasting party last night. I'm not hung over because for a change I knew when to stop. But I'm none too swift this morning.

Sampling Mila Schön edp this morning. It's a pretty, green floral, with some fruitiness, too, maybe peach(?). I like it very much.

Candy Perfume Boy, you had me literally LOLing with this post:
This is my very first time in America and I'm stunned by just how friendly everyone is. We're not used to all these happy, smiling faces in the UK!

Good morning, Warum. It's been so nice getting to know you through PMing.

To use an old expression, we "got off the farm" yesterday. We don't actually have a farm, but we felt like country hicks when visiting the local mall for the first time in quite a while. I don't know that I will ever visit Bath & Body Works again. Their Kitchen Lemon soap has been reformulated, the brick-n-mortar shop no longer carries shampoo and conditioner (except twice a year!?!). They continue to discontinue and reformulate their best products. I'm feeling quite huffy. May have to order Coconut Lime Verbena conditioner online.

I finally tried Beyond Paradise, due to recent chatter here about it, and I was handed a blotter of Ellen Tracy Bronze. In both cases, I still have that problem with the synthetics or base of "department store" fragrances. I'll welcome synthetics with open nostrils when Chanel and others use them though. I took a shot of Lancome Miracle just so I could say I officially honored "Lancome Friday." I knew I could be comfortable in this simple floral.

For today, I'll be decanting samples, so SotD will be Eau de Can't.

Cool, rainy and quiet here too. BBW Violet Bouquet layered with Hermes Terre -- the combo adds much needed substance, sweetness and earthiness to the ethereal violets.

Will be Eau de Can't later on too.

Last night I experimented by layering CdG White and Kouros. Turned out quite lovely. Got the idea from Micallef Red Sea. I really liked the cinnamon-musk combo, but just don't want to plunk down the bucks for a FB, so this was my solution. This morning: I'm Partying in Manhattan.

2 people have complimented me so far on what I've been wearing since 3pm...Narciso Rodrgiuez for Her parfum (from ebay $30)(the black glass roll-on vial)...one guy and one girl. Unfortunately the basenote note of this one (like a patchouli type note) is giving me a pounding migraine...I will have to remember to take about 600mg of motrin if I wear this one again...figures....

Oh BTW 30roses, I've been seeing a few lillies of the vally around too...so wonderful.

    Hey y'all -

I'm in Ralph Lauren's sumptuous Tuxedo for the rest of the day ....strange that the Long Lost Perfume duplicate version is listed in the directory rather than the original. The dupe will do in a pinch I suppose, but it certainly doesn't deserve all the credit!

    Have a great evening everyone!

When we recognize our place in an immensity of light-years and in the passage of ages, when we grasp the intricacy, beauty, and subtlety of life, then that soaring feeling, that sense of elation and humility combined, is surely spiritual. ..Carl Sagan

Busy, long day at a relative's commencement. Cologne Pour le Soir carried the day.

Tonight we visited out local mall to pick up a book my husband was wanting at Borders, and afterward, while our daughter tried on clothes at Aeropostale and Hot Topic, hubby and I wandered over to Macy's to see if there was anything to sniff. My expectations were low. Macy's rarely has anything I want to try.

Surprise! The Lancome counter had the new new fragrances-- Ô de L'Orangerie (a limited edition)and Ô d'Azur (to become part of their regular line). I tried both and came home with samples, plus decanted samples of the regular Ô de Lancome, which I have somehow managed never to smell before (hubby likes that one for himself.)

If you want another orange blossom perfume to try, Ô de L'Orangerie won't break the bank. $55 for 75 mls, --can't complain about the price. But try before you buy.

I will have to test it again, but the top notes were mothballish to my nose. They are supposed to be like citrus zests but I didn't get that. However, that odd smell did not last long, and the orange blossom settled in and is persisting 2 hours later as I type. If you liked Victoria's Secret Lace: Orange Flower, this is the sort of orange blossom you will smell. It is not like either the Jo Malone (which I find very indolic) nor like the L'Artisan. And it's nicer than the Prada.

Ô d'Azur I found very light, inoffensive and rather dull.

Oooh - lovely ! Beautiful pic too !

Well after all the hoo haa- I colored and cut my DH's hair. Looks fine! Yup, he has his own personal hairdresser in me ! *LOL* When I am away, he relies on 'real' hair stylists' . DH is always afraid I'm going to to cut his ears off though...........

I ended up wearing Chanel No. 5 EDP, extrait and a touch of Eau Premiere to boot.
Then I went out and had a crazy time at Sephora ,sprayed Insolence all over, felt sick from it ( that stuff is STRONG) ,rushed to Starbuck's restroom to wash it all off, returned to Sephora and bought LaVanila Vanilla Coconut.

I quite like Vanilla Coconut- it smells better than Jus d'Amour by Parfums Mercedes - though a little similar.

Now SoTE is Vanilla Coconut and what the hell, I could not resist - Chanel No. 22 extrait in the midst somewhere. A crazy perfume day !
My DH only shakes his male head in wonderment and says my 'favorite' perfume changes daily.............
My son thinks I am hilarious but Mama is no longer allowed near any beauty counters anymore.............

Haha! Mimi you made me chuckle, my daughter loves insolence and wears it regularly but I find it kind of suffocating. Hubby has learned to stand back and watch in amazment as I spray samples and can't remember what I sprayed where! My kids also try to steer me clear of any perfume counters and tell me I need an intervention....I tell them no, I need a Chanel!

    SotE is Deep Woods Off

Hope everyone has a nice night!!
