Hello all. Habanita.
Good morning all,
A hot summerday lying ahead (until thunderstorms supposedly arrive)... sampling (full wearing) The Party in Manhattan for the first time... it starts out gloriously.
I forgot to mention that I got a chance to sample Opus IV yesterday... actually, I think this is an interesting one at last. If I recall well it was not well received with BNers. It started out with a blast of mandarine and grapefruit mostly on me, went on to a heart that was centered around elemi and cumin (not in a dirty, sweaty way to my nose) clearly noticeable, overall gentle spices around the core. The base was like rounding thinks off and slowly fading out. I knew elemi essential oil beforehand and it is a very peculiar smell that I will probably always be able to identify. Havng said that it is not my thing in a perfume and I would have wanted to see more 'movement' in the base. I think it is well done and certainly one of the most ineresting of a fairly emotionless Opus series. Worth checking out if you are intrigued and interested in elemi.
Larimar, I hope you are still enjoying The Party in Manhattan; it is a lovely scent.
I should be in bed, and will be soon, but I wanted to post ahead of time once again, just in case I don't get a chance to. Right now I am in Attrape Coeur (I hope I spelled that correctly!), but if I change out later on, I will post again. Take care, all.
I'm wearing Poême Parfum... A scent that I have not worn since my teens... Lovely memories... And lovely scent too!

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

Good morning everyone Another day with my books here, I'm afraid. At least today I'll combine studying with socializing a bit at a friend's place. Looking forward to take away Sushi later Sotd is #19. Enjoy your saturday all.
I was going to wear my newly purchased La Petite Robe Noire but it's too warm for it here. So I'll be wearing:
Guerlain Homme by Guerlain.

Guerlain's Shalimar Parfum Initial. Its ambition is an odd-couple alliance between the ladylike, très parisien part of Shalimar (the plush-pillow accord of overdosed orris and tonka bean) and a new floral naughtiness: seductive rosy notes made to glisten and radiate by hedione, then cuddly caramel, and lots of cashmere-textured musk added to the strikingly sparse vanilla. No dark corners, no vanillic smoke. The pale, blush colour of the juice is actually a perfect visual representation of the scent.
Good Morning All!
It's so quiet and peaceful here right now, SotD will be Chanel's Gardenia.....as soon as I put my coffee down and get up that is
Hope everyone has a lovely day!!! Waves to Ducki

Happiness is a summer breeze, sand between your toes, and your family by your side.
Went to a wine tasting party last night. I'm not hung over because for a change I knew when to stop. But I'm none too swift this morning.
Sampling Mila Schön edp this morning. It's a pretty, green floral, with some fruitiness, too, maybe peach(?). I like it very much.

Mr. G, exciting to hear your impressions of Initial, it's one I hope to try when it gets to the US.
It's Chopard's Casmir for me this morning. It's perfect for a cool, rainy and quiet Saturday.
Top notes: mango, coconut, peach, bergamot

Nearing the end of the rose samples, wearing Fleur de Thé Rose Bulgare by Creed and working today.
Y by Yves Saint Laurent, from a sample given to me by a very generous basenoter!
“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.”
― Dwight D. Eisenhower
This morning has been Nocturnes, but later I plan to wear Nahema. We'll see how that goes with the heat, since it may reach 90 F today.
Candy Perfume Boy, you had me literally LOLing with this post:
This is my very first time in America and I'm stunned by just how friendly everyone is. We're not used to all these happy, smiling faces in the UK!
Good morning, Warum. It's been so nice getting to know you through PMing.
To use an old expression, we "got off the farm" yesterday. We don't actually have a farm, but we felt like country hicks when visiting the local mall for the first time in quite a while. I don't know that I will ever visit Bath & Body Works again. Their Kitchen Lemon soap has been reformulated, the brick-n-mortar shop no longer carries shampoo and conditioner (except twice a year!?!). They continue to discontinue and reformulate their best products. I'm feeling quite huffy. May have to order Coconut Lime Verbena conditioner online.
I finally tried Beyond Paradise, due to recent chatter here about it, and I was handed a blotter of Ellen Tracy Bronze. In both cases, I still have that problem with the synthetics or base of "department store" fragrances. I'll welcome synthetics with open nostrils when Chanel and others use them though. I took a shot of Lancome Miracle just so I could say I officially honored "Lancome Friday." I knew I could be comfortable in this simple floral.
For today, I'll be decanting samples, so SotD will be Eau de Can't.

Muguet des Bois parfum, my old favorite from high school.
All our lilies of the valley have opened. Last night I took a nice bouquet of them to Mom, and made one for ourselves too.
Woke up to an amazing Jasmin Emperatrice Eugenie dry down so I added another spritz. Only thing is it smells strong and the day is warm so I may change. Not sure how well this will scrub off though....
Jacomo de Jacomo Rouge
Nice Smell, but short longevity
Cool, rainy and quiet here too. BBW Violet Bouquet layered with Hermes Terre -- the combo adds much needed substance, sweetness and earthiness to the ethereal violets.
Will be Eau de Can't later on too.
Fleurs d' Oranger - Serge Lutens, this morning.
Have a nice day!
Last night I experimented by layering CdG White and Kouros. Turned out quite lovely. Got the idea from Micallef Red Sea. I really liked the cinnamon-musk combo, but just don't want to plunk down the bucks for a FB, so this was my solution. This morning: I'm Partying in Manhattan.
Hearts starve as well as bodies; give us bread, but give us roses.
Eau de Lalique for me this morning, then after my tennis match this afternoon, I'll probably sample something. I'm quite undecided today.
It's promising to be hot, humid and still without a lick of much needed rain. Something light today, Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria Tiare Mimosa I think.
We are being very lazy here. My daughter is "recovering" from her class trip by sleeping late. The cat is stretched out purring next to the lap top and I'm still in my "jammies".
The sun is actually shining after more than a week of rain.
It's a good day.
SOTD is Annick Goutal Eau d'Hadrien edt & vintage Poison edt.
