Good morning all. Wow Volley, what a breathtaking picture to experience. Such beauty!!!!

Once again want to let everyone know how much I appreciate the welcome-backs. I was gone for far too long.

I posted yesterdays scent so late, I figured I would post my SotE now, since it is now morning and I am off to bed.

I am sharing the house with Larimar, wearing vintage Caron Fleurs de Rocaille EdT, which I am adoring; putting on a dab more just to have nice dreams.

Hope the day will be wonderful for all and I will check in once I wake up.

My SotD was chosen for me by 30R and it is Guerlain Muguet 2011, realistic and balanced, not quite long-lasting and slightly powdery reformulation. More to follow. The desk still smells of L'Elephant.

Everyone smells lovely today. It is cloudy here and threatening to storm. We could use the rain, but please leave out the storm part, especially after the recent tornadoes. Somehow I think Chamade will go with the atmospheric pressure.

Oh, I agree. No storms for anyone. Just nice, gently falling, soaking rain. Our garden will be so happy. We need quite a few days as it has been uncommonly dry.

    Hello everyone -

I'm back in Milwaukee - it's still winter here.

...so I'm wearing something cuddly and warm, Jessica Simpson's wonderful Fancy Nights. This is a good example of why I try not to bash whole genres of fragrance, celebuscents in this case. I actually like the original Fancy too, but it's just a bit too foody and sweet for me to get tons of use out of. This I could wear day in and day out. They're calling Fancy Nights a floral chypre due to the apparent inclusion of oakmoss and patchouli, but this reads as an oriental on me - a gorgeous, ambery and slightly sweeter version of Coromandel (!!!) ...I just love it. I'm in the lotion and edp (my mother put a gift set in my Easter basket!) and I plan to grab a backup bottle the next time I'm near a Kmart.

Happy Birthday Quarry, and many fragrant returns! Have a spectacular day!!

    Diorissimo EdT (Roudnitska).

Dior's website says the new EdP (François Demachy) is to be "richer, deeper and more intense, with a more dominant jasmine floral heart note." ... I'm not expecting to like it better, but I'm curious to compare.

    And happy birthday Quarry!

At 56 I was thinking how insignificant a birthday is. I mean, everybody has one. What's the big deal? But a simple line of greeting from so many nice souls does put a smile on a girl's face. Life was beautiful before I turned on the computer this morning, but it's even sweeter now. Thanks, kids.

The land surrounding our old place has a history of importance to us. Sometimes it borders on the magical. This morning, after decades of thorough interrogation of this landscape, DH found this little bottle. Funny that.

Any guesses to its origins? It says MADE IN U.S.A. on the bottom. Love a perfume with lots of genuine moss.

Sampling from Mimi on my left: PG Brulure Rose; and Matilda on my right: CB IHP Just Breathe.

Matilda, my skin requires extra sweetness, so Vanilia compensates for my sugary shortcomings. The Brulure Rose is a sweet rose, and that makes it more approachable for this quasi-disliker of rose scents. After a time, the Vanilia reminded me somewhat of the Attache-Moi, which should be in your mailbox pretty darn soon I hope.

Warum, hold on to that 22. I'm not feeling the full attraction of this Chanel yet. Need to give it some more wearings to get in rhythm with it. Sunnier weather might help. Today it's gray, and windy enough to blow out birthday candles without my help.
In a world where 6 million people are added each month, every landscape matters.

At last we finally have some rain today. Quite a few heavy showers here - enough to give everything a good soaking and serve as a horticultural viagra for our garden. The bad news is that we really need about 2 weeks of this now but let's be thankful anyway.

Twolf, I'm looking forward to your further impressions of Guerlain Muguet 2011. Last week I smelled it next to the fresh lilies of the valley in our back yard; Muguet has notes not found in the fresh flowers, so is not photorealistic, but it was better than I expected, given the IFRA restrictions.

i thought today I would retry Jo Malone Orange blossom-- a tiny decant from a tester bottle-- and it didn't bother me as it did before (but it doesn't sing to me either.) I have found the JM a bit too indolic for my taste in the past, but I only spritzed it once so didn't get a huge dose. Maybe I'll ask for a proper sample of it next time I'm at Nordstrom.

Happy Birthday to you, dear, dear Quarry! I hope you are enjoying your special day. You make every day special.

I am rediscovering my baskets of neglected bath & body stuff. I really need to start using this stuff or let it go. This morning it's Bodycology's Coconut Lime body spray and lotion. I also have Bath & Body Works' Coconut Lime Verbena, and why on earth I thought I needed two lime/coconut scents I don't know. I probably forgot. So I'm trying them side by side. The BBW scent is more woodsy in the base, the Bodycology one is sweeter and more coconutty. Lots to re-discover in those baskets.

Happy birthday Ms. Quarry!!! I'm so glad I could get you some fragrant sweets in time for this special day.

Today I'm going to another perfume sampling "class" at Knows Perfume - the theme is "I Know What Boys Like", and it's about scents which may be worn by men. I'm bringing my good friend with me - he's never been into fragrance before, but I got him to try Sartorial, which was really amazing on him, and he's curious about the shop because I've been telling him how cool the owner is and all the awesome events she puts together.

I decided to wear something that would be pretty light and not conflict with anything I might decide to sniff/try on later - so I'm in SL Clair de Musc.
