    Default Armani Prive Cuir Amethyste

I fell in love with this from a sample from a kind Basenoter, and a full bottle is what I must have!

I would like some input on longevity, as this scent (marvelous violet, patchouli with leather) seems like one in which "your mileage may vary."

Any thoughts on this. It's promoted as a unisex and in the eau de parfum.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Its a really nice crisp leather with hints of sparkling violet.

    On my to-buy list.

I remember longevity was sufficient from my 1 or 2 wearings.

    Thank you, hedonist and hednic.

This is a very rich scent and seems suitable for evening wear.

It reminds me of Daim Blond a little. The leather is less suede-y than Daim Blond, but still soft. There is a hint of something sweet and fruity, yet no mention of fruit in the listed notes, and then the bright violets. I bought my bottle from a BN'er who thought it became too sweet on her skin. Somewhat cliche, but it really does smell "purple" to me.

I think the longevity is very good, with tons of sillage the first few hours, then it settles in closer to the skin.

I had a bottle, long ago, but I swapped it for Ambre Soie. The longevity was certainly adequate. Shadesofbleu's assessment is basically how I remembered it: Soft, creamy suede, candied flowers, and violets.

Wearing this for the 1st time today. I like it.

Maybe that strong violet note is what I'm attracted to, not the leather?

    It's appealing, isn't it Mike.

I like how the violet tames the birch wood while in reciprocate the birch gives the violet edge.

Has anyone seen a sample of this anywhere? I've been looking in the usual places with no luck so far.

Never mind, I just went straight. To the source, Neimans and they are sending me a sample. Couldn't be better!

danieq, I think the newer version may be slightly altered. I have the old bottle with the refills in the 50ml. Now the scent only comes in the 100 ml glass bottle.

The cap is the same (purple amethyst plastic "stone" cap).

If you love floral leathers, you will LOVE this. It is similar to Bottega Veneta, but far richer. I get compliments on this all the time.

Its weird but violet is a note that sometimes I do not detect until its pointed out to me. Many many times I don't smell it at all until someone says 'violet' and then I go 'oh yeah'. There's only a handful of scents that just smell EXACTLY like violet to me (Tom Ford's, Ava Luxe's) but when I put this one on this morning I just smelled (as hedonist pointed out) a softened leather scent. I liked it.

That's an apt comparison Primrose, Bottega Veneta. I definitely like this one better than the BV.

I wish I could remember who gave me this sample, as I've probably had it in my 'pile' for probably 4-5 years, so I could properly thank them. Whomever it was, THANKS! lol

Do you get the resemblance to Patchouli 24?

I don't get that, hedonist. Patchouli 24 is very smoky, and Cuir Amethyste does not have the smokiness. I have the Patchouli 24 (in the oil) and there is a huge smoke note.

Violet and leather are one of my favourite accords. I enjoy the Cuir Amethyste, Bottega Veneta, Jolie Madame and the Guerlain Dandy Arsene Lupin.

Cuir Améthyste is a really interesting and rewarding fragrance - one of the few FB-worthy Armani Privés, I think, considering everything.

After the violets have simmered down, I find theres a strong resemblance to Patchouli 24 - that vanilla/benzoin/birch wood accord.
